I ordered my computer using the generic id. You fill out all the billing/shipping info after you place the order.Has anyone been able to log into the computer store yet using your NetID, as opposed to the basic one they give everyone? I am planning on ordering a computer soon but don't know if you have to do so while logged into the computer store using your own NetID, and so far it still gives the invalid message.

Re: NYU 2012
Cool thanks. Are you going to seek reimbursement from the school in the form of the one-time computer loan, or are you just paying for it now? I ask because I intend to do that, but have been waiting til the 15th of July since I had read that purchases had to be made within the academic school year (which begins July 15th for school purchases) but won't keep waiting if I don't need to.anonymous_dude wrote:I ordered my computer using the generic id. I'm having trouble finding information about orientation. I think it begins on Wednesday, Aug. 19th. What day are most people arriving (those that are flying in)? We have to submit a request to arrive early, correct? The daily rate for arriving early is pretty steep, so I think I'm just going to reach one day early to get settled in and ready for orientation.

I really want to know what orientation entails. I can't find anything on it at all other than that we'll be given time over the weekend to sort out practical things
I'm arriving back in NYC the 3rd August, but I then need to find somewhere to live....

Not to pry, but how did it come out to 95k? I thought the basic cost was about 65K plus a bit more for 'cost of living' expenses.dbt wrote:70k? You mean 95?!magnumxlv wrote:guess i'm not the only one not getting any grants!mwazaumoja wrote:Was anyone else bothered by the ease in borrowing $70k?

They say orientation starts on the 19th, but non-early arrival housing starts on the 19th. They expect us to move in AND attend orientation events on the same day? Or do they expect everyone to fork over early arrival fees?lossuenos wrote:I'm having trouble finding information about orientation. I think it begins on Wednesday, Aug. 19th. I called student services to ask for details but reached their voicemail.

Re: NYU 2012
They returned my call. Wednesday is basically registration and check-in for the dorms - no "events". Registration is from 1-5pm on the 19th but they suggest getting there before 1pm. All of the events start on the 20th.Belili wrote:They say orientation starts on the 19th, but non-early arrival housing starts on the 19th. Did they say anything about another registration later in the week? I'm flying in from the west coast and my flight doesn't arrive until 5PM on the 19th.Belili wrote:They returned my call. FWIW I doubt it will matter...I have a friend(who was living in the dorms) that skipped move in/the entirety of orientation to go to the Democratic convention last year. They didn't seem to care.uclabruins wrote:Did they say anything about another registration later in the week? So somebody already got the immunization forms--has anybody else NOT received them yet?

I haven't gotten them yet, but I think it may be that my school mailbox isn't delivering things since I'm missing other stuff that should be here by now too. I'll be checking with them Monday, and if it's not there then I'll update here.halfpancake wrote:So somebody already got the immunization forms--has anybody else NOT received them yet?

If you log into your NYUHome account, and then click the student life tab, you'll see a link to the health center forms. I think much of it needs to be filled out online anyhow, so even if you haven't received the mailing you'll be able to get a jump on your work.
Also the due date for everything is August 15, just four days before most of us will start to move in.
And DPT, how dare you confuse me! You almost made me feel like I got away with a deal at 70k a year.

Re: NYU 2012
Does anyone know how to get your immunization records if you've been out of school for a while? I called my old doctor's office and they might not have them still -does this mean I have to get them again or is there a way around this?

This happened to me as well. I was able to find some old medical record that my parents had kept that listed the immunization on it.apx1393 wrote:Does anyone know how to get your immunization records if you've been out of school for a while? If you can't find any sort of record, I believe there is a blood test (I think it's called serology) that can check to see if you're immune to MMR, which is the only required immunization.

Check your high school to see if they printed the info on your transcript. My records were going to be super difficult to get (military records from a now-closed hospital), but luckily my HS printed immunization dates on there and NYU said they would accept that as proof since I'd had to show official records at some point at school.apx1393 wrote:Does anyone know how to get your immunization records if you've been out of school for a while? do you still need a doctor's signature in that case? or would you send them a copy of the immunization records? thanks for the responses!mightyaphrodite wrote:Check your high school to see if they printed the info on your transcript. Nope, no doctor's signature. I just ordered 2 copies of my transcript - an official copy (so it was sealed and all that) and an unofficial copy so I could write the dates. They said that would be fine and no doctor's signature was required.apx1393 wrote: do you still need a doctor's signature in that case? or would you send them a copy of the immunization records? thanks for the responses!

If you do need to get MMR (because you can't find your past records of whatever), time is short because it consists of two jabs a month apart.mightyaphrodite wrote:Nope, no doctor's signature.
