Ordered two UVA Law t-shirts this weekend! Got the shipping notice for one today.

I was thinking of what gifts to get my Recommenders. Most people get things like chocolate or wine, but how does two white UVA law hats with a short "thank you" message written on the brim sound? I figure it'd be a little more personalized.

Awesome! I see I'm not the only dork who ordered UVA Law stuff the day after he got accepted.

Chocolate, wine, etc. are difficult if you don't know what they like. At the very least, a nice looking mug will sit in their office and be a story they could tell some student of theirs who wants a recommendation in the future.

Yeah, the day I got accepted I drunk-ordered a mug, sticker for my truck, belt, and tshirt. I bought a UVA hat almost a year ago, but refused to wear it for fear of jinxing myself, so it just sat in my closet waiting. It definitely felt good to finally put it on when the good news came.

I did back in Jan. because I figured I'd have to pay them at some point anyways and I might as well look (even more) poor for financial aid. I also didn't want to forget sending it in since the first deposit date is around finals.

Unless I'm missing something, my count is two and I'm one of them, not sure if that counts as quite a few. Albeit looks like there are only two Dookies as well.

Although what I think I did mentally was to attribute everyone attending NC schools or with a NC network as attending (or having attended) UNC.

There's 7 UNC graduates each year (for Class of 2010 and 2011) who matriculate at UVA.

Yeah, I noticed those stats before. I even know a couple of UVA 2Ls from UNC but have been a bit surprised not to see more UNC grads on the facebook page. I guess we'll find out come the fall.

Random question, but does anyone know about negotiating financial aid with Virginia and if it is effective? If you read my other thread, you know I was offered 48K to go to Duke, but I'm afraid I'll get nothing at UVa and I would rather go there. How would one negotiate something like this? Fax a letter? Email? Thanks!

Last year Duke offered me $60K and UVa offered me $45K. UVa seems to be generally against negotiating but if you got $48K from Duke there's a good chance you'll at least get something similar from UVa if you wait until offers come out.

For those that have filled out the UFAA, am I correct that they want financial information for all students, regardless of your age? And the only way to fill out my parents' info is to have them fill out the worksheet and then I enter it in the electronic application? Am I the only one who thinks it's none of my business to know all the details of my parents' current financial situation?

Edit: Ok I see now that it's students 28 and under that are required to enter parent info. My other question still stands, although I think I know the answer. There really isn't any way for my parents to enter their own info?
