Sorry everyone, I just saw this, I haven't been checking as often as usual so I'm trying to catch up on all the pages.
I've been here almost two weeks (aside for going home for a few days for something), and all we have really done is go shopping for apartment essentials (towels, furniture, etc.), eat out x 1000000, and explore a little bit.
Shopping- For all the girls (and some of the guys!), the shopping here isn't spectacular but it is pretty good. There are lots of little boutiques all over town that carry all kinds of cool lines and the mall is okay. There is a Target, a Wal-Mart, and all those kinds of places as well. There are lots of random furniture stores but they are either really expensive or really bad. We ended up getting most of the stuff we needed at Ikea (2 hour drive to Woodbridge) or Richmond (1 hour drive to Short Pump).
Food- There are so many really great restaurants here. Everyone has already said that, but now I believe them. I think we have been to Chipotle probably 6 or 7 times and Marco and Luca's 3 or 4. We are also big fans of Mellow Mushroom and Christian's. We've been a bunch of other places too but I can't remember them right now so I'm just mentioning the big ones that we've visited multiple times. And I have to add that everything is really cheap, which is awesome and explains why we haven't gone grocery shopping yet. And oh, before I forget, you have to go to Splendora on the downtown mall. It is a gelato place (I didn't even know what gelato was before I came here), but it is amazingly delicious.
Things to do- So far I have done the usual things you would expect. The Downtown Mall is cool, and the Corner is nice too. We have been to Waynesboro twice because they have a better Target and Wal-Mart and we were stocking up on essentials. We are planning on doing the Skyline Drive thing one day soon and we also are going to do the walk around campus thing but the weather hasn't been cooperating.
The only other thing I can think of to mention right now is that the weather here is kind of weird. It will be completely sunny and clear and then out of nowhere a giant red blip comes up on the radar and you get quarter sized hail and gusts to 60mph and crazy lightning and then an hour later it's back to sunny. It seems like almost everyday since I've been here some variation of this has happened. I guess it's because it's early summer or something, but it's definitely different.
If anyone has any specific questions I'd be happy to try and answer them, it will probably just take a day or two because I haven't had much time to get on the computer with all the moving/organizing/etc.
ETA: Geoffree, where is the skating rink? I think I saw one of the bowling alleys the other day, but which one are you talking about?
