And yet, a part of me thinks: if you're going to be $200K in debt, what's another $2500/month? But seriously, Lenfest and Lionsgate or whatever are mad expensive.lex talionis wrote:and about to get so much poorerLem37 wrote:YES! Hells yes to the 400-block shares. Yeah, and once you're in Lenfest or Lionsgate you can't transfer to other UAH housing. Plus, I don't want to run the risk of living by people with kids in Lionsgate (even though the shares start out around $1000).lex talions wrote:And yet, a part of me thinks: if you're going to be $200K in debt, what's another $2500/month? lol I was just kidding about Lenfest. I'm applying for those 400 block apartments just like the rest of us. I was seriously considering requesting Lenfest. Is that a bad idea?

No, not at all - if you can afford it. It just seems very overpriced for not much more than what's available. There are other studios/one bedrooms that are a couple hundred dollars lower. Also, it's a building full of law students. I can't imagine how high the stress level must be around exam time... lolbooyakasha45 wrote:I was seriously considering requesting Lenfest. Re: Columbia Law School 2012!
Hi, everyone. I really should read all the threads that people already posted in this topic...if there has been an extensive discussion elsewhere, I would really appreciate a little link.
But,
I was wondering if anyone knows anything detailed about Lionsgate? How feasible is it to get that place? Has anyone visited (I only visited the regular apts and Lenfest)? And what do they really mean by transferable to UAH? Will it be that competitive to get an UAH place my 2L if I wanted?
Thanks! I am excited about the increased possibility of seeing you guys next fall.

What's special about these "400 block" apartments? I couldn't attend any admitted students programs, so comments are very much appreciated.frank_the_tank wrote:lol I was just kidding about Lenfest. Re: Columbia Law School 2012!
Hey everyone! After the admitted students program last week, I'm almost 100% set on CLS. I'm waiting to see if they'll respond to my begging for some money, but that probably won't happen.
I saw some of the apartments when I was there, I think they were on 114 or 113th. They were nice and spacious, so I think the apartment shares will be fine...

Can anyone who attended the last admit days tell me what the lunch is like/for on the second day? I'll be attending the March 25-26 and I may have an appointment that conflicts...I don't want to miss anything interesting!

For the last admit day, it was in the old library on the main campus (now mostly an event space I guess) which is a really beautiful building. There was really good food and lots of choices (big buffet). As for missing anything interesting: it was open seating with current students sitting at each table (I think). It was a nice informal opportunity to ask questions, but CLS provided plenty of other opportunities to talk to current students.whyamidoingthis wrote:Can anyone who attended the last admit days tell me what the lunch is like/for on the second day? in addition, if you are brave enough, you can sit at the same table with Dean Schizer...vegcat wrote:For the last admit day, it was in the old library on the main campus (now mostly an event space I guess) which is a really beautiful building. haha, that sounds like something I would probably do. Sounds like lunch would be fun, but I think I'll keep this other appointment if nothing huge will be missed...yqsong wrote:in addition, if you are brave enough, you can sit at the same table with Dean Schizer...vegcat wrote:For the last admit day, it was in the old library on the main campus (now mostly an event space I guess) which is a really beautiful building. There's a bus that takes you from LaGuardia and will drop you off AT Columbia. And it's $2. M60.

Haven't decided yet... do you have any ideas? There are a lot that have interesting-looking subjects and/or interesting profs, so I'm still wondering.whyamidoingthis wrote:I leave for NY tomorrow (and I had kind of forgotten that I was going...whoops).
