Re: Michigan 2012
I got money from Michigan after I sent them my UVA award, but since I didn't previously have an offer, it's the same thing as Alexandria.

AVAILABLE: CHARMING ANN ARBOR STUDIO APARTMENT SHORT WALK TO LAW SCHOOL
Calling all admitted Umich law class of 2012 students!
I'm a Umich Law 2L who will be living in New York this summer and I am looking for a summer starter to sublet my apartment in Ann Arbor. If you need housing in Ann Arbor for this coming summer, please see my ad below and email me if you are interested or have any questions.
Congratulations!
- Margaret (U of M law school 2L)
Studio apartment with high ceilings and flooded with natural light at the Southwest corner of South Division
Street and Liberty. The apartment is ideally located in a very safe area halfway between the law
school (a 5-7 minute walk) and Main Street with all its shops and restaurants. The
apartment is furnished (including with pots, pans, linens etc) and has a large closet and
bathroom. In addition to the main door, the apartment features a lovely door out to the
wooden fire escape which you can use as a deck... it's great for summer evenings in Ann
Arbor!
The apartment is AIR-CONDITIONED and there is coin operated laundry in the basement.
The rent is $525 (negotiable) and includes utilities, internet and phone. Parking is
available but not included in the rent. In addition, cheap long-term parking is available
close by and the bus station is a 2 minute walk from the apartment and you can get
anywhere in Ann Arbor on the bus.
Start and end dates are negotiable and I am willing to accommodate your schedule.
This is a lovely and peaceful apartment in which to spend the first semester of law
school.

What a great benefit of living in the LC. No subletting!
And to the financial aid question poster: I think that's some bullshit. If you get more money at UVA, I almost guarantee you that Michigan will raise their award.

I'll be joining many of you at the March ASW, at least.
Looking forward to it.

Re: Michigan 2012
I called today and signed up to do a tour/sit in on a class the second week in March. I'm going to the April ASW too, but I'm going to be visiting my parents in Detroit anyway, so I figured I may as well see it twice
. I'm really excited to finally get to see everything! (Last time I was there everything was all locked up for Xmas break).

So how does this $20/night hotel thing work for the preview weekend?
Are these legit hotels or what?
When do you get your assignment and all that?
I'll be arriving the 17th so I'll be staying in a full price hotel the 17th and 18th...but for the 19-21st I did the $20/night thing...

The hotels will most likely be either the bell tower or the campus inn. Both are really nice.

Is that really that bad? Adds to the social element, I think.

it's fine having a roommate. Most likely you won't be bumming around the hotel much or at all anyway.

It's probably not going to be bad. But it might be bad -- and that's why I'd prefer to not have a roommate.Objection wrote: Is that really that bad? Adds to the social element, I think.

I'm 95% sure I'll be at Michigan in the fall. The only thing that can tear me away is a major scholarship somewhere else. I won't be at ASW, but thanks to all of the '11 class that showed me around in October. Go Blue!!!

Campus Inn regular rates are like $250 a night. So yeah ... it's "legit."Objection wrote:So how does this $20/night hotel thing work for the preview weekend?
