Is it possible to avoid having a Friday class entirely?

Re: UVA Class of 2012
Mahoney and Low (CrimLaw) both, for some reason, don't set the days of the week for their class so I think you typically have 3 classes/week but they won't necessarily be the same days each week. I guess since Mahoney is the dean he's more likely to have conflicts so this makes it easier for him to teach around scheduling difficulties.showNprove wrote:What's up with Mahoney's Contracts section meeting for class 5 days a week for 1hr 20min each? Does he just not know which days he wants to teach yet?
Last year, 1 of the 12 sections didn't have Friday classes in the Fall. Sometimes the sections with Mahoney/Low didn't have class on Fridays when that class wasn't held on Friday that week too I think. Is it possible to avoid having a Friday class entirely?

CrimLaw 10:00-11:20
Torts 2:10-3:30
CivPro: 3:40-5:00
LRW: Thrown in somewhere once a week
Typically your classes will meet 3 times/week but Crim could be 2 and the others could be 4.
That seems like a nice long lunch break. I hope it's not irrational for me to plan on taking a power nap during that period, oh and chipotle

That's what I was thinking. A mid-day gym session, shower, and lunch are not out of the question. And some days it will be even more than 3 hours, I think.iceberger wrote:gladiator wrote:Crim has been set at 10 AM so your schedule will be approximately:

Softball games are played during the day M-F so it's possible you'll have a game at 11:30 or 1 too. Generally though it's a pretty good break though. You also might have LRW during that time.
In addition to what you've mentioned, some people use it as reading time.

Re: UVA Class of 2012
I tried to get a lot done during the day on Saturdays and Sundays when possible. You really just read whenever you have time which does include nights. My general philosophy was to read ahead and read at all times so whenever a softball game or party or whatever came up, I could afford to go without conflicting with reading. You'll find your life is split into 6 categories: class, sleep, eating, fun, reading, and, perhaps the largest category, time you spend pretending to be reading while wasting time.showNprove wrote:If people don't read during that break, when do they get it done? I have a feeling nights aren't a popular studying time for many people until it gets close to finals.gladiator wrote:Softball games are played during the day M-F so it's possible you'll have a game at 11:30 or 1 too. Re: UVA Class of 2012
I had 2 practice midterms so that encouraged starting outlines early but generally it's hard to get the motivation/time to do outlines early and probably unnecessary anyway. I ended up doing the majority of my outline work just before Thanksgiving break in the fall in that period where softball is over, LRW ends, and events tend to be at a minimum.
I stuck with briefing cases daily but most people give up on it pretty quickly. I thought the briefs helped me handle cold calls (which isn't really necessary) and made it easier to outline instead of deciphering highlighted casebooks.
Generally you won't be asked to recall case details on an exam so it pretty much comes down to just understanding the rule from each case when it comes to the exam.
Unrelated, UVA vs. LSU has been set for Saturday 6 PM EST. Game 2 will be next Monday.

Did you know that when you type "top law schools" into Google, "UVA Class of 2012" is one of the 8 preview links it shows under the TLS site on the search results page?
I'm not 100% sure what this means, but it seems pretty important. Congrats everybody!

UVA takes care of its own. Also being a TLS PA is a hell of a lot easier than going through the long application process and taking on the responsibility of being a real PA.showNprove wrote:I'm so glad you've been around in our thread. Re: UVA Class of 2012
I don't know if anyone else considers this relevant, but Apple just blew the law school bundles out of the water with their upgrades announced today. The new 13" Macbook (now called the MB "Pro", too) includes faster processors, support for up to 8GB of RAM, and lower prices. The intro-level machine now starts at just $1099 using education pricing, and even with upgrades and adding AppleCare you can now undercut the bundle by a couple hundred dollars.

When you consider the free iPod you get for buying this summer, the Apple laptops end up being a heck of a deal. I'll be buying one.

When are the doctors records due? I need to get a hold of mine.YCrevolution wrote: Nice catch by the looks of it, if you want to get a Mac notebook.
I managed to find a copy of my immunization record in my files today. Yes! This is especially good considering that my pediatrician office has shipped off the records from my timeframe to some hospital. Now, just a TB test.

On another note, I wish we knew our section number. I'd like to know my schedule and who I'm going to have classes with and it'd help with our page count.

I'm excited about the new MacBook Pro in 13". I like how they announce this just a few short days after I decided I was going to keep my white MacBook, it is throwing a kink in my plans.
On another note, is anyone else getting the new iPhone? I still have an original 2G phone and since most of the new software upgrades won't work on it and no one is making accessories for it anymore, I figured it was time to upgrade.
