Well it's kind of hit or miss I think. I bought one expensive (for IKEA- like $200) coffee table there about 4 years ago and if someone hadn't made a burn mark on it it would still be in great shape and it's very cute. I also have a cool mirror I got there super cheap and I still use it. For what it is and how much it costs I think it will work for law school.CE2JD wrote:They have nice stuff at IKEA?

Re: UVA Class of 2012
Anyone know anything about the Arlington Condos (not the townhouses?) I see that they are really close to the law school from that RELLS guide (which is extremely helpful by the way), but it doesn't seem like there is much information available online.
I know it's far fetched and a few people have said I'm outta luck but is there anything closer than the Woodlands to the law school that is of a similar quality? Something within walking distance would be amazingggg but I know it probably doesn't exist. I'll keep trying anyway.

I wish my wife wasn't as picky as you are about furniture. We would have saved a lot of money.limegreen wrote:Well it's kind of hit or miss I think. We got a mirror at ZGallery a few weeks ago and I don't even want to tell you how much it cost.

Haha, you don't even have to tell me- I can only imagine and I feel your pain. I must admit that your ZGalery mirror is probably much better than the one I got for $20 at Ikea.CE2JD wrote:I wish my wife wasn't as picky as you are about furniture. I'm hoping that between Ikea, Target, and a little bit of Pottery Barn I can put together a cozy, comfortable apartment that looks good and doesn't break the bank.

LOL so my mom found her way onto TLS yesterday (don't ask) and sent me an e-mail saying I should go to UVA since the people in this thread seemed so nice.
Congrats UVAers, you have my mom's approval.

On another note, I applied for a one bedroom at Ivy and Jeffersonian about a week ago. What do you guys think the chances are that I won't get an apartment at either? Thanks.
Also, to be honest, when talking about furniture, I think IKEA is strangely overpriced in certain respects. I saw a sofa there for $800 when a friend of mine bought a whole leather sofa set from Jennifer Leathers for $1000. But where exactly is the closest IKEA to UVA?

I totally agree... some of it is strangely overpriced like you said, and some of it also seems oddly underpriced. The closest one is in Woodbridge just outside of DC. I think it's about 2 hours from Cville.RTF wrote:Very Cool.LOL so my mom found her way onto TLS yesterday (don't ask) and sent me an e-mail saying I should go to UVA since the people in this thread seemed so nice.

You'd have to share a room with someone, and it's a mix of undergrad and grad students.reallyreallyreally wrote:What's the deal with copeley?

guess you're choosing UVA over Duke. Good manshowNprove wrote:Hey all. Looks like I'll be joining you in Charlottesville next fall.
I was looking at housing, and came across Ivy Gardens. My girlfriend and I will be moving in, and we have a cat. Does anyone know if they allow pets? And if they don't, do you know of any good, nearby housing that does?
Thanks.

University Heights does. It's basically the same floor plans as Ivy, except further away from the law school, and sufficiently far to make driving worthwhile. You're looking at a seven-minute drive or a twenty-minute walk (through a manageable but not terribly pedestrian-friendly route, I might add).showNprove wrote:I was looking at housing, and came across Ivy Gardens. It's gonna be a lot easier to get into Ivy than Jeffersonian.
