I'm bored!! I have three weeks left at work and my boss quit last week= I basically just have to show up. Anyone else excited about hiking, cycling, or camping in Shenandoah Valley?! I want to buy panniers for my bike and ride to the national park from Charlottesville and then camp, hopefully I'll find some people to come with me! Also, when I visited in March I saw some really cool wineries around Charlottesville, more or less big farm houses that you would never guess were vineyards and wineries just by looking at them. Hopefully we'll have time to do lots of exploring July-October or so before we have to step up the studying? Of course, I'm excited for the actual law school part too )

Sorry, I'm reviewing a bunch of old posts, but yeah, I'm looking to do some hiking at Shenendoah right when I get out. I've never been much of a biker, but I might bring my bike anyway. I've never seen the outdoors stuff in Virginia, so hopefully the hiking in NH hasn't spoiled me. At least I'll be able to stand being outdoors past September.

There are a few people in the UVA Law 2012 Facebook group who are looking for roommates. I would probably try there too.

Where is the best pizza in Charlottesville? I pretty much like all pizza from Domino's to gourmet but since pizza is my favorite food (besides Chipotle!) I figure I should find the good spots.

I think gladiator is probably the best person to answer this question. My host when I was there for ASD took me to Christian's, which is supposed to be pretty good. Don't know if it's the best though.

I went to UVA for undergrad and am currently living in Cville -- Christian's Pizza is probably the best in town, with really fresh toppings and good combinations. But if you're up for a little bit of a road trip, there are two places about 15-20 minutes away that are definitely worth the drive. Crozet Pizza down 250 West is really good, and Dr. Ho's on 29 South heading towards Scottsville is some of the best pizza I've ever had.

Christians (downtown mall) is good for cheap pizza with creative toppings. If you like thicker chewier crusts, go to Basil (on the Corner).

Update: Went there last weekend. Basil stopped serving pizza. Apparently it's not wise to offer delicious $15 meals that feed 3+ people when you can charge $14 for a salad.

lol, reading this thread it looks like half of the appeal of uva is going to be the burritos. there are worse reasons to go to law school I guess!

anybody heard anything about actual laptop policy? I've heard rumors that some profs (tried?) to disallow them from class, which would really suck..

Some ban them, some don't. I've never found that the ban hurts or helps academically, it just takes away the opportunity to gchat during class.

Christian's is solid if you want a slice or two, Mellow Mushroom is good if you crave a really filling pizza, and I haven't been to Crozet. My favorite is definitely Fabio's, although it's off campus. It's thin NY style pizza and it's perfect

-Burgers at Five Guys
-2 AM subs at Littlejohns
-Chicken fingers at College Inn
-$1 burgers on Mondays (and Wednesdays?) at Coupe De Ville's
-Gus Burger at The White Spot
-60 cent boneless wings on Thursdays at Buffalo Wild Wings
-Ice cream at Arch's

If UVA was in Ithaca, would this thread have 133 pages? I can't imagine living in Ithaca for 3 years...plus, I wouldn't be able to go home and have my mommy do my laundry for me (yes, that was a factor in my decision to attend UVA ).

Hmm, actually the student health insurance program looks pretty good compared to bluecross, especially if you have a spouse to insure too. I don't know why, but I remember the premiums being a lot worse when I looked at the numbers a while ago. Here's the policy brochure for 2008-2009:
