You'll also need thermal underwear, heated Maxi pads, and a butt plug or two (just in case).tralinds wrote:LOL @ rainboots. Don't get rainboots. Get snow boots. Rain boots will not keep your feet warm. Just wait until you get here, stores will have them out in Sept./Oct., long before it snows.
You'll need a warm heavy coat, hat, warm gloves, maybe a scarf. And boots. That's probably it.

Re: Michigan 2012
You can get everything you need from REI here, and they don't even bother to restock winter clothing until Oct 1. As noted above, the only critical things are: (1) some sort of decent coat (you do not need alpine expedition weight gear, just a wind / waterproof shell with some sort of liner); (2) boots with decent tread for walking in the snow; (3) gloves; (4) hat; (5) scarf if you want one.tcortez wrote:I have a wardrobe question. What type of jackets, boots, warm clothing, etc., should I buy? You guys know i'm an LA girl and I know nothing about snow and extreme cold. Do I need rainboots? What brands are good? Gracias. 8)

Wait, I was planning on just layering more and more hawaiian shirts as the weather got colder, are you people telling me that this is ill advised? My back up plan to was convert the duffle bag I brought into some sort of coat if I found that it was colder than I expected

Your posts make me laugh every time. I guess during orientation whenever I meet someone I'll just ask if the words Chewbacca Defense mean anything to them. That will be a good way to make friends.Chewbacca Defense wrote:Wait, I was planning on just layering more and more hawaiian shirts as the weather got colder, are you people telling me that this is ill advised? This is a good way to freak out incoming 1Ls into all thinking they're behind the curve on the concept of "chebacca defense." I say if we can get a PKSebben and VAli67 co-authored "Primer on the Chewbacca Defense" in Ann Arbor bookstores by orientation, that you go ahead with this plan.Vail67 wrote:Your posts make me laugh every time. MAP leaders were already asked about accommodations, so they might be getting to you soon. If you are worried, I would just e-mail Trudy Feldkamp and ask her. She's really nice.thefinalcut wrote:Anyone heard of anything about accommodation during MAP?

+1, I'm so glad we're on the same wavelength I can tell we're going to be good buddies at Michigan....that is until I accidently kill your hamster by overfeeding it....and by hamster I mean girlfriend....and by overfeeding I mean with a car.....and by accidently I mean by purpose.FlightoftheEarls wrote: Doesn't something like this happen in Cool Runnings?
Hopefully you won't get a response like "Yeah, I hate that guy, he gave me horrible law school advice, when I see him I'm going to punch him right in his Asian face, or black face, or white face.... I really don't know what he looks like but I'm going do it. Wait! are you Chewbacca Defense?" As he proceeds to punch you in the face while I'll watch from the side in amusement.Vail67 wrote: Your posts make me laugh every time. This is true, but they're uncommon. I haven't had one yet (rising 3L).PKSebben wrote:There are classes that have midterms. It is course by course.topsome wrote:There are no midterms at Michigan right?

I'm a rising 2L, and I've had a midterm already. I actually like them. I wish all classes had midterms. It makes you keep up with the reading and work instead of cramming at the end of the semester. And it's even better when the final is not cumulative.

Are any of you guys worried about OCI for us next year?
http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... =9&t=80594
I'm mostly referring to this thread with the comment:
"I would definitely be sweating if I were median at MVPB"
Considering 50% of us are going to be at or below median at Michigan, what do we do then? Are any of you worried?

Don't listen to this ginormous hater. Things could be much worse than below median at Michigan. I'm sure Merriweather will strike gold with his tremendously sunny attitude.Merriweather wrote:yes, you're all screwed. just like us. i have no idea why you decided to come, tbh.

I think everyone is worried to some degree. We're going to a top 10 law school. The vast majority of us will be perfectly fine. Anyway, the job market sucks right now and I'm not looking to fight for a job with my BA (in PoliSci, no less)

I hope no one minds if I move this thread along to a sunnier topic. I just put in my two weeks at my job today, and so I’m taking suggestions of how I can most effectively burn all bridges at my job in this limited period of time. I was thinking about going around giving my goodbyes and licking everyone’s stapler but I just don’t think I have enough saliva for that. I hope that people can give me some more creative advice.
P.S. Anyone need office supplies?

at one point some company called outlinedepot or something like that gave a huge box of highlighters to the students. It was in front of my locker room. I think I took like 50.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
