1:40-1:55 (100 Hutchins Hall) Introduction to First Year Programs: Christine Gregory, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs
1:55-2:15 BREAK
2:15-7:00 (approx) Refer to group room assignment sheets posted outside Room 100. Orientation meetings with group leaders, tour of Law School and Central Campus. Dinner to be arranged with orientation group.

Awesome, it doesn't start till the afternoon, this gives me all morning to eat cereal and watch cartoons. I hope I can borrow someone's dvds of it so I don't have to watch tv at that time because I'm afriad that I'll see a commercial for ITT Tech's program in cirminal justice and realize that I've made a terrible mistake.

sigh. don't remind me. i love chicago. i intend to pull a 'merriweather' though and try to spend as many wkds there as possible. iirc, we both have SO's in chicago, correct?

As it stands right now (though, this could change pending a job offer), my SO is going to still be in Chicago as well. Carpool?

I know how you feel, I'm quiting on the 11th because I need to squeeze every last penny I can from my place of employment only to see it all disappear faster than a bowl of crunch berries place in front of me. Maybe I should stop investing all my savings into cereal if all I'm going to do with the investments is eat it instead of patiently wait for returns on it.

But all this talk about burritos, we can debate about which burritos are good and which ones suck but I think we can all agree that the best burrito is a free burrito:

Ann Arbor has Totoro which is pretty good. If you're willing to drive 20-30 minutes out, there are a few places I know that are run by Japanese folks that are really really good. Outside of AA there are some pretty big pockets of Japanese folks because of the car and car parts companies. Because of that, there are some really good Japanese restaurants in this part of Michigan but they're not in Ann Arbor but a relatively short drive out.

Two things I love about this post:

1. Many options for Japanese not too far from A2. Excellent.

2. "Totoro" reminds me of My Neighbor Totoro, one of my favorite movies.

I had another question about 1L internships..... How imperative is it to get an internship in the geographic market you want to practice in after graduation (so, both 1L and 2L internships in the same city)? Is it common for students to work in their home markets during the 1L summer, then doing an internship in their chosen market during the 2L summer?

yeah, if it's a smaller market (think boston, atlanta, philly) for sure. bigger markets, not really. except texas.

I have a wardrobe question. What type of jackets, boots, warm clothing, etc., should I buy? You guys know i'm an LA girl and I know nothing about snow and extreme cold. Do I need rainboots? What brands are good? Gracias.

I'm not even buying any clothes in LA. I figure A2 will be better equipped for what we'll need, and people there can help us buy what we need. But, yes, get some rainboots. I'm getting a pea coat and a really heavy jacket at first so that I can switch the two off depending on how cold it is.

If you're a girl Northface down coats are something of a uniform around AA in the winter. But don't worry about that now... you can try various ones on in AA and buy there or online when winter starts to set in. Also snow boots, but again don't worry about that now.

LOL @ rainboots. Don't get rainboots. Get snow boots. Rain boots will not keep your feet warm. Just wait until you get here, stores will have them out in Sept./Oct., long before it snows.

You'll need a warm heavy coat, hat, warm gloves, maybe a scarf. And boots. That's probably it.
