Well Broham, it is definately not over and I wish you all the success in the world. I am very excited about Hastings, so I hope you find your way in too. LEOP seems like such an amazing program. It is a shame it is not available to the entire student body. But, I intend on taking full advantage of the support. If you get into SCU, will you still postpone untill 2010?2013Hopeful wrote:Congrats on your quick acceptance Stayawake! I applied right before the deadline too. Literally a day or two before. My numbers are no where as good as yours which explains why you have already heard back and I haven't. I have a 158 LSAT and an overall GPA of 3.1 but my last two years (out of 3 total) was about a 3.9. I had to drop out for family reasons and when I came back my grades were a lot better so I was hoping that they would take my grade trend into consideration. I've pretty much given up hope thoughMy original plan was to apply to start in 2010 so I will probably have to do that since I only applied to Hastings and SCU and haven't heard from either one. Oh well, hopefully I'll have better luck next year.

Everyday that I don't get a rejection is a good day but I'm still tired of waiting. I just want to know already! If I only get in SCU I will most likely postpone to retake the LSAT. I am confident that I can do better and by that time all of my grades will be in and I'll hopefully have at least a 3.2. Are you already in the Bay Area?

If so, Emeryville would not make economic sense (just as expense as SF) but El Cerrito could make it worthwhile, though that commute would be blah, imo.baycat80 wrote:so i'm thinkin bout gettin an apartment in the east bay, prolly el cerrito or emeryville, somewhere close to the bart.
where are you guys thinkin of living?
you're right, in strictly monetary terms, emeryville is not that far off from sf. however, you can find similarly priced one bedroom apartments/studios with much more square footage in emeryville. also, the area is pretty nice and allows you to escape a little bit from the rush of the city. i'm also trying to think about where i'm going to keep my car, knowing parking is cheaper in east bay than in sf.
that being said, there are of course many distinct advantages to living in the city (shorter commute, for one). i would really love to live in mcallister tower, i just don't kno wat i'm gonna do with my car. any suggestions?
people talk about the East Bay like it's in outer space, and the reason you hear that is because if you DON'T live right near a BART station, transferring from bus to BART can definitely be time-consuming. If you're going to live in the East Bay, find somewhere near a BART station (being careful, of course, NOT to sign any lease until you've SEEN the neighborhood and read up on the crime stats - the East Bay is like an inverted English muffin: you're living next door to both crooks and nannies). If you live right near the BART, the commute will be relatively painless. If you can get your butt out of bed early enough to leave before the rush hour crunch, you will be able to find a seat and study while you're on the train.
If, however, you're a night owl, and can't handle leaving that early, live in the city. But if you live in the city, sell your car. I'm serious. Just don't bother. It's not even that you won't be able to afford parking (although that's true too), it's that you will lose all that commuting time you saved by not living in the east bay while you're driving around trying to FIND somewhere to park. For heaven's sake, save yourself the headache and the gas money (which, for those of you moving here from those square states in the middle, is still more expensive than you'll want it to be here even when gas prices are "low). The city is claiming (but take it with a grain of salt, because we've heard this a couple of times now) that TransLink cards will be good on BART, Muni and AC transit by the summer, so that will make public transportation easier to navigate.
Sorry if I ramble. I need to have my coffee IV drip adjusted.

Re: Hastings Class of 2012
Nope... I am bartending and waiting tables in SoCal. I have family in Fairfield (about forty mins away from SF) so im looking to make the trek around July. Yeah... waiting sucks period. Although I already have a school lined up, I'm still waiting and full of nervious energy. I spend alot of time just reading TLS posts- it kinda relaxes me, i don't know why.2013Hopeful wrote:Everyday that I don't get a rejection is a good day but I'm still tired of waiting. man, that's a long wait. have you tried to get in contact with leop office at least to see if they're still reviewing apps? the leop director is a woman named jan, and she's super nice.

I called them around the 2nd or 3rd week in April and they said they plan to send out the last of the decisions by the end of April or early May at the latest. They sure are taking their sweet time.

Have there been any LEOP rejections yet? I feel that they haven't sent out any LEOP rejections and that they will do them together next week. I hope I'm wrong, and that they are delaying us to see how many people deposit and whether they could accomodate any further LEOP applicants.

I haven't heard of anyone getting rejected from LEOP yet, but there have been quite a few getting in. My guess is that we'll be seeing a shitload of rejections in the next week or so.Kay459 wrote:Have there been any LEOP rejections yet? Re: Hastings Class of 2012
That sucks because they should just sent out the rejections rather than keep people waiting. On a different note, I did check LSN and there are quite a few people who have low LSAT's and are URM's, getting rejected. I think, logically, if any URM with a low LSAT score applies to Hastings, then he would do it through LEOP. A rejections would definitely be bad news for me though, as I have struggled a lot to be where I am including coming to the U.S on asylum 5 years ago, and got a BA with no support from anybody else. I know that I'm probably not going to Law School ithis year f I don't get into Hastings but...oh well

That's what I'm hoping too...I hope they are seeing who withdraws and if they can fit us in somewhere. The good thing is that we'll find out our decisions via email - less waiting time...Kay459 wrote:Have there been any LEOP rejections yet? How did you find out about the email thing? I don't see a reason to keep us waiting till the last date to put a deposit for admitted students. It would be really cruel for them to do it so that they can send mass rejections and that too by email. I hope some "enlightened" soul who knows whats going on provides us a better explanation!

I have been reading this forum for a while and finally decided to join to give you LEOP applicants so hope. I applied to Hastings around January and received a call from admissions to apply for LEOP because I have an auto immune disease that I talked about in my personal statement. Anyways I have wanted to go to Hastings for a few years now and the waiting was KILLING ME. I finally received an acceptance letter dated April 21st. So don't give up hope!
Good luck!
Oh and if it gives you even more hope: LSAT : 157 GPA: 3.5
You can check out my LSN account too under the same name.

Thanks for giving us hope...we really need it. In a way it creates more confusion as to why would they keep us waiting till this long without a rejection, but I guess, no news is good news until we get to know our decision. I am personally expecting a rejection, but still keeping my fingers crossed.justhope wrote:I have been reading this forum for a while and finally decided to join to give you LEOP applicants so hope. Re: Hastings Class of 2012
I took a look at the residency application and it's, well, quite thorough. Even though I've lived in CA my entire life I think I'll have trouble getting all of this stuff - there's a lot I just don't remember! Anyone know how to get a copy of your voter registration card? I registered in Santa Barbara when I lived there, and I guess I must have re-registered when I moved back up to Palo Alto in order to vote in the Presidential election.. so that would be a new registration card, right?

it is a pretty annoying application isn't it? i called, though, and confirmed that you do need to send everything.
to get a copy of your voter registration card, call the office on this list for your county and confirm that you're registered. then ask them how to get a copy. they'll probably tell you to write a letter to the register recorder at their address and send a check for $1.50
