If I remember correctly, a friend of mine who goes to Fordham had told me he had to write a memo as the writing assignment. I'll try to find out more, but I got the impression it was a very minor thing.

Does anyone know when section assignments and class schedules are determined? I'm guessing it won't be anytime before July 1st, but does anyone think otherwise?

Something else that I think is addressed in the spiral notebook. Definitely not until some time in August.

I want to be a Fordham student now! Can we start on this assignment early?
Not trying to be a gunner or anything, just wondering how I will survive 94 more days wandering in the desert before I can enter the promised land.
Anyone else feel the same way? It's been like this ever since Dean Brown parted the Red Sea for me.

Man, Fordham needs to put some of their 100 million dollar campaign money towards effective PR. For example, make videos about Fordham available on their website. Here's another video I found, about the Fordham Law School's Community Economic Development clinic. Enjoy!

Re: Fordham Law School Class of 2012
Another question, thats actually rather a general one
im gonna have hard time paying for rent especially because Im gonna try not working my 1L year, so although my grants and loans are above the tuition the refund i will be getting will only help me pay for 4-6 months of rent. Do you think I should/can take out a few thousand more private loans for law school and if i do will I be refunded that?
Will the school ask me why are you taking out loans when you obviously have sufficient?
Am I even allowed to do this?
also, is health insurance required for all law students? it wasn't under the cost list so I wasn't sure.
I am trying to figure out what additional costs there are aside from tuition, books and loan fee.
Thanks.

You can take out as many private loans as you want. That's between you and the lender. I wouldn't recommend taking out private loans if your credit isn't good, because you could end up with some crappy interest rates, and private loans can snowball fast. I also don't see how you could be refunded for taking out private loans. I guess you could request Fordham loan you some money in the amount of the private loans in order to pay them off, but Fordham claims they only do this in emergencies.
Health insurance is not required for all students.

I have good cosigners and have been receiving good interest rates. Besides the amount I am looking to borrow is pretty small compared to what the average loan is for grad school. In the Fordham Financial Aid Guide Book it says that in case of overpayment the university offers direct deposit of refunds to your bank account. I know at NYU Undergrad they did the same, when I had an overpayment I received a refund but my overpayments were never above 2K so I dont know if that would be a problem.

On a related note, where can I check out Fordham's health care plan? I'm trying to figure out a way I can be covered by my mother's (doubtful) or keep my employer's for a while (probably expensive). Thanks!

Fordham's health care plan? <3<3 I'm going to be insured again! My ex-boss promised he'd cover insurance, so I never got around to buying my own policy. As long as I can avoid any mishaps for the next 93 days, life is beautiful.the fledgling wrote:On a related note, where can I check out Fordham's health care plan? For people who are unemployed, 24 and under, and in NYC: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dycd/html/home/home.shtml
All sorts of jobs through August 15th. I think the pay starts at $7.25. Not bad if you have no other options.

Re: Fordham Law School Class of 2012
That's actually a pretty cool program. I fit the demographic (I am 24, and not working, as of Thursday past), but I'd feel bad taking a job away from someone who really needs it. I will not be in dire straits if I don't work this summer, though it'd be cool to get some actual legal experience. If such is not forthcoming, I'll spend the summer volunteering, and prosper, though not in the financial sense.the fledgling wrote:For people who are unemployed, 24 and under, and in NYC: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dycd/html/home/home.shtml

OperaSoprano spoke with Dean Brown and he said a lot of decisions would be coming out around this time. I can't locate her post right now.
Hang in there. I hope you get some good news soon!

When did you go complete? FT is pretty much full right now, but acceptances seem to be trickling in as people withdraw. I imagine a few more people will get in after June 1st, and then it'll be a trickle again right through the first day of classes. A handful of PT waitlisters got in two nights ago. On May 1st, I was among seven people in my batch (according to the dean.) I hope you get in soon!
