Phenomenal news. There's nothing I love more than being on the top floor and (hopefully) having a window that looks out into the gorgeous District below.

Knowing my luck, though, my roommate will get the room with the view of the National Mall and I'll be stuck staring into vague, nondescript northeast DC or something.

That's what I'm doing at least...though I'm on the 9th floor. Probably moving in the 22nd if possible (I'll be staying near main campus before with friends, to make it convenient...).

They say there's no big difference in ultimate job performance/interviews. I spoke with some 3Ls who've basically said it just means explaining to them (the ones that don't know about B) what it is, but that's it. It works as a conversation starter, even, during the interview.AceOfDiamonds wrote:
Maybe I'm crazy, but I decided recently to change curriculums from B to A. I had originally signed up for B, in large part because I thought it'd make my Georgetown Law education "unique" and because I'm always up for good political and philosophical debates. Then I had serious doubts, in part because I heard how notoriously liberal the Curriculum B professors are (I'm conservative on some issues and liberal on others, a born-and-bred Independent, but I went to an undergrad university where borderline-socialist professors attempted to literally drill their biases into their students, and I didn't like that approach.) More importantly, though, I began to question exactly how T250 Vault employers might look at a Georgetown Law alum with a strange curriculum instead of the classic Torts, Civ Pro and Contracts.
Big mistake or great decision? I've debated it thoroughly (even after calling GULC to formally request to change curriculums), but here's hoping I made the right call for me.
I'm staying in B, particularly because if the professors that are listed on the schedule are the ones teaching it, it looks like they have some really good evaluations.

Has anyone been able to get access to past exams through the library website yet? I keep trying to use my netid, but it's not working.

Did they include our section assignments in the NetID mailing? I'm out of the country and won't be able to check my mail for a while, but got my NetID when I was in DC the other day.
If they've already given the section assignments, are they also available online somewhere I could check?

Ah cool, yeah my roommate is coming direct for GU UG as well, but he's must've taken some time off, because he's a little older. Not that I really care, I don't think age really matters that much, but it's nice to know I won't be alone in being younger than most peoplechipchip wrote:
Don't worry, I'll be 21 as well. Going directly from GU undergrad to GULC. If you have any questions regarding bars and such (in this case, I guess preferably in Chinatown or Dupont rather than Gtown proper or Adam's Morgan), send me a PM or email me. My netid is gc83 (use @georgetown.edu since my law account is a little wonky right now due to the shift between schools).
There are actually a fair amount of GU undergrads moving to the Law Center this year.

We'll have a pow-wow discussion about which bar to go to towards the end of july in this thread I think, so make sure to hang around long enough to give us some advice!

Re: GULC '12
I managed to find an RN at my old health center who was kind enough to look up my immunization files and sign the form. I don't know if the form requires a doctor's signature, but screw it, GULC ain't getting one from me. The health center closed a while ago, and the only people left are the nurses who are sorting through the files. My last tetanus booster shot was 10 years ago (08/1999), so I might have to get a new one at orientation? Ouch. Anyway, it looks like I won't have to try gilchrist's sneaky "request a delayed registration date so that you're 26" plan. I guess no one here needed to know any of this . . . if any of you troopers read this far I'll give you a prize* at orientation.

Damn. If y'all are looking to claim your prizes, I'll be the bald guy exhibiting symptoms of tetanus. If it's post-booster shot, I'll be the bald guy vomiting from his fear of needles. These may be the worst high fives of your life.

I loved 25! Right after I turned 25, I did a play, went to the Cannes Film Fest (all expenses paid by my job at the time), moved to LA, and had an all-around awesome year.titles wrote:Twenty five is the first birthday that's blah. What kind of comparison is a decrease in auto insurance to nights at the bar? None. And a quarter century? You go from college to almost fifty. Wasn't a fan myself.
30, on the other hand, was not terribly fun. My birthday is the day after St. Patrick's Day. I had just moved to Chicago with three friends from LA and they couldn't wait for me to finish working, so they headed out to the bars without me--at 10am. By the time I met them out--at 4pm--they were so sloshed that I had to play babysitter to three sloppy 28-31 year old women. After Ginny (one of my roommates) got kicked out of the bar we were in for first walking into the mens' room and then pouring a beer on a totally random girl because she wouldn't drink Ginny's leftover beer, she had a random strange guy bring her to my house. She lost her keys and had to break in through the window, breaking the window in the process and teaching a total stranger how to break into my house. That came out of my $5k security deposit (the lease was in my name). Happy birthday to me!
Morals of the story: 25 can still be loads of fun. I wouldn't even think about worrying 'til you hit 30. And also, don't ever lease a house and then allow an alcoholic tramp to be your roommate.

Parkway Apartments, the company is Daro Realty. Agreed that finding something is a pain in the ass, most of the places I visited either had nothing available or were way out of my price range.Sox21 wrote:Congrats - what is it called? Hey Sox, so you're choosing GULC over NU too? Nice to see I'm not alone in that decision...Sox21 wrote:Congrats - what is it called? I'm having the hardest time finding a place to live! This question is of utmost importance and immediately determine if Sox is merely "mildly, respectably cool" or "freaking awesome."

Personally I root for the AAA team based out of Tampa that recently showed up at the major league level. Washington will be great because I'm bored of watching a now semi-respectable team. I'm ready for wild pitches, blown leads, and botched trades again--that's excitement!
