If they cleaned it beforehand it seems to have been done using a moldy dead raccoon (or some such indigenous creature). Thing I bought upon arrival: Lysol, paper towels, broom, sponge, etc..

It was clean-ish. Like, they did a basic job of it. I've lived in college apartments and New York apartments, and this was definitely a "college apartment-esque clean".sbalive wrote:They don't clean it beforehand? What the fuck? Live it. I used this on my UAH tub yesterday. Spent a full hour scouring it.

I should note that other people might not be in the same situation as I am (with the filth).
My roommates have been living here for a year.

That's a disturbing portent of cleanliness issues to come. Do you think you might have to spring for a maid? I'm curious as to how much that would cost - on the one hand, it's superficially pretty dumb, on the other hand given that my roommate and I will both be 1L students (thanks for ignoring my requests, UAH!) I'm sure that cleaning will fall to the bottom of our to-do lists.lex talionis wrote:I should note that other people might not be in the same situation as I am (with the filth).

It's not that expensive to have a cleaning lady come once or twice a month (I think my college friend's share was about 30 dollars per cleaning), but problems arise if not all the roommates want to pay/if the apartment goes to shit immediately after getting cleaned.sbalive wrote:That's a disturbing portent of cleanliness issues to come. I think it's best to get on a weekly schedule, especially in New York. Someone can take the bathroom, someone the kitchen, and maybe split up the living area. If you don't, you're going to get bugs, mice, and mildew. I intend to be a fully committed 1L, but I also value my hygiene enough to take 30-45 minutes out of my Sunday to clean.booyakasha45 wrote:It's not that expensive to have a cleaning lady come once or twice a month (I think my college friend's share was about 30 dollars per cleaning), but problems arise if not all the roommates want to pay/if the apartment goes to shit immediately after getting cleaned.sbalive wrote:That's a disturbing portent of cleanliness issues to come. EDIT: Not to insult any of you who aren't as OCD as me. It's just...showers and toilets and floors can get disgusting after a week.

I've facebook messaged a couple of people, but haven't gotten any response. So, I'll try posting here. Do we have an orientation schedule yet? Where are we supposed to be and when? What time do we show up on the 17th (it is the 17th, right?)?

I saw references to events on an autoadmit thread of all things - the guy was complaining about doing community service, and apparently the business & law association was going to counterprogram charity work with a Wall Street tour?thrillhouse wrote:I've facebook messaged a couple of people, but haven't gotten any response. Where do we go to fill this out? The student services website?
Another thing:
CLS still hasn't confirmed receiving any of my promissory notes. Do I walk into the fin. aid office and make sure everything's ok?

How long did it take for them to get back to you in the mail? My credit was approved, so I'm guessing that there shouldn't be any future issues.
And I don't remember any grant data sheet. Was it mailed to us along with our award letter?

I think the mailing was dated between 10-14 days after I applied for the loans.zero1 wrote:sbalive wrote:I received confirmation of loan approval in the mail but never received any email back from them.zero1 wrote:CLS still hasn't confirmed receiving any of my promissory notes. I'm in my apartment. Keeping it like a refrigerator. Thank God utilities are included. Anyway, since I'm skimming off the LS's wireless, if anyone wants to reach me to hang, my number is in my FB profile.
