Why would you need to take LaVista? Couldn't you take Briarcliff to campus? I guess you'd have to circle around if parking at Clairmont, though.

About Post: I heard that you don't want to live with all the law students. I guess that's personal choice, though. I also heard that crime is increasing there. Another complex fairly nearby is apparently crime-ridden compared to the other locations. I don't want to talk too much smack about particular places, especially since it's hearsay. If you want any more info, you can PM me. I'll tell you what I've heard, and you can make your own decisions. It's the city. You're going to have crime everywhere, but you can pick between drug violence or simple car break-ins. It's the south, so you're probably going to have to battle insects wherever you go. These are just some issues we'll have to face. I will really miss my current house.

Y'all, a friend of mine who's at the School of Theology is looking for a roommate, so I thought I'd post info here and on the Facebook page.

She's looking for 2 people to rent rooms in her 3-br, 1-ba house in Decatur (two blocks from downtown.) It's a really great house- well-maintained 1930's style, with a fireplace, a butler's pantry, a screened porch and hardwoods. About 1.5 miles from campus, 10 minute walk to the shuttle. Rent is $491 + utilities. If I didn't really want to live alone (and have cats, of whom my friend is not a fan), I'd be jumping on this myself.

One room is available June 1st; the other can be available in July or August. They're all pretty good-sized bedrooms, as I recall.

Anyone who's interested, email jennafaith -at- gmail.com. I can vouch for Jenna's awesomeness, cleanliness, and general suitability as a roommate!

Oh and sry for the incredibly noob question, but i've never rented an apartment/taken out an lease before, and i was wondering: if i DO take out a lease (say, for 1 year), and then for whatever reason decide that I don't want to live there, what would be the best course of action to take?

"cancel" the lease? (i imagine there would be cancellation fees or something like that, no?)

or find a subletter? (i hear subletting is illegal...)

thanks
No, we haven't started registering for classes. My understanding is that for the first year somebody at the law school will place us into a section. We'll take a standard set of first year courses with the classmates in our section, so we won't actually be choosing our classes...

How you go about breaking your lease will depend on the terms of your contract and how flexible the management is willing to be. The terms of my lease specify that I have to notify them in writing some amount of time in advance and then pay a fee in an amount equal to rent for two months. I've heard that some places will waive the fee if you can find somebody to "take over" your lease.

Dantimreynolds was getting into this topic on this thread.
scBlueDevil,
thanks! this helps a lot! though i'm a little disheartened at the fact that we (the students) won't have any say in choosing our classes. i really, really, REALLY am not a morning person, and if possible, would do anything to avoid an 8:30 morning class. no joke, i can't even get to my 11:00 classes on time...

I got a great house on Clifton Rd. .3 miles (2 minute walk) from the Law School. N. Druid Hills seemed like a pretty enough neighborhood, and the proximity to campus cannot be beat. I highly suggest driving around on Clifton Rd. to see if you can find a good spot.

Also, I will be in Cape Town in May and D.C. in June/July/August. PM me if you want to get drink and discuss Torts.

different side of the street...with Briarcliff, you're directly on Lavista. With Sheridan, you have to get on Briarcliff, then get on LaVista[/quote]

I held off for a long time b/c I suspected that my boss was snooping around on facebook. Well, I was right. About a week after I joined the ELS c/o 2012 group, my boss requested to add me as a friend  I ended up adding him but limited what he can view of my profile to basic info, education, and work history. However, I now have full access to his profile, and he's posted some pretty ridiculous party pics that include people way up the office ladder -- probably not a good idea when you work for Mark Sandord. Then again, nobody cares (read: respects) what Governor Sanford thinks anymore...

TITCR

And I'm not even thinking about the Emory fbook group either. I think the intensity of law school will break my facebook addiction though.

i was just wondering.. if u are planning to practice in GA/Atlanta, is Emory Law THAT MUCH better than UGA Law, or just slightly better?

I assume if u are planning to practice in NY/DC/LA, Emory is much more well-known, right?

I went apartment hunting the past couple days and thought most of the apartments were pretty nice. I specifically like CCrossing, Gables Rock Springs, Highland Lake, and Post Briarcliff. They were all pretty spacious, decently close to the law school, and seemed relatively new and clean.

I am looking for a male roommate, so if anyone of you are interested just pm me. I would prefer to live at Campus Crossing, but am open to any of the other three apts as well.

Hi guys,

I'm a rising 2L at Emory and I was looking at the website and the tuition and fees listed say for 2008-2009. Did they tell you guys what tuition would be for next year in your scholarship award letters? I'm wondering what tuition will be for 2009-2010, and I remember last year in my scholarship award letter they listed what tuition would be for the next year. If anyone knows, please let me know!! And as always, if you guys have any questions about Emory, feel free to ask! Thanks :)

I'd be up for either, though I'd be a lot more useful on the diamond than on the court.
