Hopefully we'll all get good news from CLS and it'll be worth the wait.

You should be able to get out of the contract, although you may not be able to keep any CLS acceptance you get in January; they'd probably throw you into the normal applicant pool at that point. But I can't see anyone here being upset enough about the delay to just void the contract entirely, what with a possible acceptance still out there.Prodigy wrote:I'm not sure if we went over this before - but if a EDer doesn't get accepted until January, are they still bound to the contract? The ED contract only states that, "You will be notified of CLS's decision in December".

I'm not sure that's what he's asking. I think he's asking that, if he gets an acceptance from CLS in January, can he still entertain offers from other schools, being that CLS didn't abide by the terms of their "contract?" (i.e. rendering a decision by December)extragnarls wrote: You should be able to get out of the contract, although you may not be able to keep any CLS acceptance you get in January; they'd probably throw you into the normal applicant pool at that point. Was this in the same e-mail as the fall grade request?bocadellupo wrote:CLS asked the fall grade request applicants to confirm whether or not they still wanted to be considered as ED applicants, since waiting for the grades might cause a delay
My e-mail did not ask whether I wanted to remain under the ED plan. The request assumed that I still wanted to be an ED candidate: "In order to remain under consideration for the Early Decision Plan, as soon as possible, please send us a report of your Fall term grades in a personal letter, while at once requesting from your registrar that an official transcript be sent directly to Columbia Law School."Prodigy wrote:Was this in the same e-mail as the fall grade request?bocadellupo wrote:CLS asked the fall grade request applicants to confirm whether or not they still wanted to be considered as ED applicants, since waiting for the grades might cause a delay

I think that the decision letter you receive will tell you this. Mine had a large paragraph about the Early Decision Contract and withdrawing from everywhere else. So, if you're accepted, and it doesn't mention it, then I would think it's safe to assume you're no longer ED. If you're deferred, you would no longer be bound anyways, right? Good luck!Prodigy wrote:I'm not sure if we went over this before - but if a EDer doesn't get accepted until January, are they still bound to the contract?
