I bet it's because I bit the bullet and went with furnished.
You're welcome to 115th anytime. Just beware of Frank lurking in the fire escape.

I should probably leave a doggy bowl outside just in case.

Should I start freaking out now?
Hmm, that is strange. I e-mailed her and she responded right away. I'd try giving her a call.
What day was the housing deadline?

I called Student Services on Friday (Elizabeth Grainger never replied to my email either) and they said that we're part of a very small group of students who still haven't gotten their assignments, but that we should get them by July 1. If we don't get them by then (Wednesday) call Student Services back immediately.
I don't expect to get an email tomorrow just like I haven't gotten one for the last month, so... calling them first thing on Wednesday morning.

I think the housing deadline was May 1, so you weren't very late. I applied on May 1 and got my housing last week.

I was actually re-assigned housing this week - the girl who was to be my roommate actually withdrew from Columbia last week, so I spoke to UAH and asked them to offer me her room (which is bigger - 180 sq feet, yay!). So, if one of you is assigned to 529 W. 111th St, you might be my roommate!

Congrats on the larger room, Lem!
Speaking of housing...What does one need to buy/bring to a furnished apartment? I have only been to NYC for the ASW, are there Wal-Martish stores around? If I bought a small desk or something like that, how do I get that to my room with no car?

hmmm okay I think I'll go with your strategy. I hope this doesn't mean we're left with whatever everyone else rejected... :/
thanks guys!

There's an Ikea in Red Hook (Brooklyn, near the bridge), a Target at Atlantic/Pacific (Brooklyn) and probably other similar stores in the other boroughs. But I actually think that a furnished apartment comes with a desk - you might want to call UAH and ask. As for other things, you can check to see (a) if the store delivers (for example, Target and Ikea can deliver furniture) or (b) just find a friend with a truck or (c) rent a U-Haul.

There's a BBBY at Columbus Circle. There are "Guy with van" services on Craigslist. If you look around campus around Orientation, there should be flyers around campus for such services, too. Small furniture is usually too big for cabs. Larger mini-van cabs may be willing to help you if you tip them extra.

Just in case anyone is particular as to where their locker is located, I was just able to reserve a locker via LawNet (not AdmitNet).

The locker reservation doesn't tell you where each locker is, it only allows you to reserve based on number. Is there any particular number range where all the cool kids have their lockers, or should we create one right here and now?

There's a map showing the general area of each range.

Interesting, the reservation system changed greatly in the past 5 minutes. So, map in hand... I still have no idea where the best place to have a locker is.

Maybe I'm missing something, but how do I get access to my
first.last@law.columbia.edu email that is listed on my Lawnet profile?
I emailed to it to see if it was the same as
abc1234@columbia.edu, but nope.
Also, this might sound ridic, but I think I'm going to request a locker near the entrance I'd probably use coming from my apt.

I read that those law.columbia addresses were for staff/faculty, I dunno though.

Do I have to do the computer training before accessing LawNet? I'm thinking i'm missing something here because I don't have a law school ID, just my UNI.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
