I've been looking at Queens more than Brooklyn, but so far, not an abundance of luck. It's partly tough because I'm in Boston now (could be worse, I could be on the west coast) and still working, so going down to see places is complicated. My hope in finding a roommate is a better neighborhood for less money... so, we'll see. I adore my cats and am not to be parted with them, but they do make the housing search trickier.

Anyway, I'm glad for you that you got your sitch straightened out. For my part, I shall persevere.

I don't know much about Brooklyn, but my ex got a very reasonably priced studio apartment in Queens, in the Jackson Heights area, which I think is a good area (it has its sketchy parts, but same goes for many other areas). She found it really quickly too. The building management didn't mind if tenants had cats, and I even saw tenants with small dogs. I think you'll be able to find an apartment, even if it will be very last minute. It should also be feasible to find an apartment where you'll be able to be with your cats and not have any issues.

Revolution, on what sites are you looking for apartments on? Dogs are usually harder to accomodate than cats (hell, if I were a landlord, I'd want the cats--fewer pest problems). Try streeteasy.com.

And definitely look in Astoria.

I went to the HESC website and checked my loan status in the "manage my account" section. I completed the e-MPN probable in late June early July.

Congrats! I still need one. At this rate, Frick and Frack and I are going to be living in a cardboard box. The noise level and security could be better, but the commute can't be beat.

Yay for Silenz's roommate troubles being fixed! I hope you and your kitties find something soon, though. Bostonlegal and I have Cosette and Merlin, and we found a place right by school (and a block from Central Park, insanely enough) for around $1270 a piece. We worked with a no fee broker who was awesome. I can PM you his number, if you like.

It's alright. It will only take you a handful of hours to finish reading it. Large text and wide margins FTW!

I'm in europe and got mine yesterday, so it shouldnt take for them to deliver yours that long =)
I'm on the second section and really enjoying it. Hopr you get yours soon but either way it s a really easy read so you'll be able to finish it before orientation
