Has anyone else heard today? I'm crossing my fingers that silence is a good sign and they're trying to fix the "arbor" issue....

sorry, when I said "else," I meant other than the people who have heard so far. I'm incredibly nervous after hearing about this arbor thing bc I haven't heard a peep yet.

I heard today -- W 115 St, reasonable price. So there is hope for everyone who hasn't heard yet. Needless to say, I am relieved.

I've been reading for a while, but this is my first post. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in the fall.

Argh. I got an email from Grainger at noon saying they were working to address my situation and I'd hear from housing 'very shortly' and still nothing. How long does very shortly mean??

"Very shortly" in Bureaucratese translates to "a week or two" in English.

For those that have been assigned housing thusfar, can you please let us know (a) what you requested (ie a share, one-bedroom, unfurnished/furnished, a specific building, price range) and (b) what you received? I'm interested to see how closely they're matching requests.

At least they seem to be tackling the problem head-on/recognizing that this placement is a problem.

Yes, I've been impressed by all of my interactions with the Law School Administration. Elizabeth Grainger in particular seems very on the ball - UAH contacted her to inform her that I wanted to be placed in Lenfast, and she immediately contacted me to verify. Which is a good thing, because I'd made no such request.

Unfortunately, while the Law School Administration seems to be on the ball, UAH does not.

If anyone else want to pay for a new comp with loan money...
Students may encounter a number of expenses that are not covered by the standard COA — for example, the purchase of a personal computer or unreimbursed costs for medical emergencies. To cover such expenses, students may request to have their budget adjusted to allow for additional borrowing through credit-based educational loan programs. Requests must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office in writing, with receipts and supporting documentation included where applicable, and they will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Depending on the reason for the requested increase, students may be asked to submit a detailed financial budget as well.

I got an extension and they adjusted my payment details. Columbia is awesome! Now I have to find an Internet cafe since I need to generate a temporary credit card number on Paypal and that's not possible on my iPhone.

My roommate sounds like he's ok too, even if he is a law student 8)

Does anyone think that our class might be overenrolled, and that is why people are getting housing assignments in the bronx? Based on LSN, for what its worth, there has been no movement on the waitlist.

I don't know about overenrollment, but I suspect that the arbor is basically empty/not as popular with faculty as they expected and CLS makes it's housing assignments later than, say, the medical school, which may be causing this problem. The school only opened the arbor in summer 2008 and it looks like there were supposed to to be very few students in there, mostly faculty. If a year goes by and no faculty want to live there, guess who gets to fill it?

Ha! Well, hopefully they'll stop putting people in the Bronx (I think one hysterical law student was enough for them to deal with). Elizabeth Grainger is one of my new favorite people. Good luck to you guys still waiting to hear

I also emailed Grainger. Hopefully she is in the process of putting me in that apartment with you right now.

Did anyone receive confirmation from the Admissions Office that their Dean's Certification had been received? I sent the form to my undergrad a few weeks ago, but I don't know if CLS has received it and the deadline is June 15th.

I didn't receive confirmation about my transcript or my Dean's cert.

I imagine they don't send confirmations. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Come June 16th if they still haven't received it, it's not like they'll revoke your offer. They'll probably just email you and tell you to get it in ASAP.

No, but I did just get that email (I'm sure everyone else got) with pending deadlines for enrollment procedures...

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
