For those of you who have visited Campus Crossings at Briarcliff, what were the furnishings like? Was the furniture cheap and dorm-y? Did the apts feel like dorm apartments? I like the convenience of CC, but would hate to feel like I'm living in a dorm again.
campus crossing was really nice.. def not the dorm variety.. nice bed, dressers, desk, realllllly nice desk chair, black leather/pleather(maybe) couch and chair..

i'd get a jump on CC, when i went on the weekend of the 10th, they were almost filled up already.. i wasn't even sure i was going to Emory then, and I signed the lease, it was THAT nice.. for me at least, but I've been living on an Americorp stipend in an expensive city for the past 2 years, so anything would be an improvement

For those of you who are not going to rent an apartment at Campus Crossing, which neighborhoods and apartment complexes are you looking into?

I am 99% decided on going to Emory now. I want to try to get a place in the VA-Highlands or Poncey-highlands area.

+1 to Va Highlands or Poncey-Highlands.

Will likely also look for a place near Scott Blvd (so I have quick access back to Athens from Atlanta). Maybe also Candler Park, Lake Claire, Decatur or around N. Druid Hills.

Yea I was also thinking of candler park too; it's close to little five points and also the MARTA rail. You could also feasibly ride a bike to campus through a route that is mostly nice neighborhoods (druid hills). To me Decatur has a sort of "sterile" vibe going on with it; almost too clean. I think the Highlands/little five points was a bit more vibrant with culture; hopefully a cool place to live. I will say that Decatur being right on the MARTA rail is nice though.

can never tell if this thread or the "In at Emory!" thread is the place to post for Emory-bound 0Ls...

haha anyway. are most ppl here dead-set on Emory, or are there a lot of ppl who put down the seat deposit but are riding the WLs/hoping to get off a WL elsewhere? just wanted to get a feel for how many are in my position.

me, for example: on 8 WLs (i know, i know...), seriously considering paying sticker if i got off a WL. although, the generosity Emory has shown me is really, really going to be hard to walk away from. eh, who knows what will happen...

Just found this web page... It's basically a compilation of everything I discovered after countless google searches and two trips to Atlanta. Too bad I didn't find this like two months ago...

I'm going to be living in Decatur (where it's greater!) On S. Candler near Agnes Scott College, for those of you who know the area somewhat. I'm thrilled- I got a really good deal and am living close enough to Emory for convenience, but also near a bunch of non-law-school-affiliated friends, which will be nice to avoid the Law School Bubble effect. And since I've lived there before, there won't be quite the learning curve I'd experience in other neighborhoods, finding the best grocery store, the bank, etc.

I'll have a car, but the Cliff shuttle comes to Decatur as do a couple of MARTA buses. I'm thinking I may go for the monthly MARTA pass, which you can apparently buy at a discount ($40 vs. $52, I think) through Emory.

When are most of you guys thinking of moving to the area?

I heard from a current 1L that the weeks leading up to law school were a blast as everyone in the class who had already moved to ATL would go out all the time.

I'm going to take possession about June 1. I'm not sure when I'll actually move in to my new place. I'm going to try to get settled in before Bonnaroo, though.

what's convenient about highland lake is that it's within walking distance of clairmont campus, so you can always just walk there and hop on the shuttle that takes you straight to the law school. there are lots of undergrads there, though, which may be unappealing.

Ya know, for the deal they are offering me, thats fine. Its a huge complex so anything that big you would assume that there are UG there and I don't have anything against them....yet.

+1 But, the difference between walking from the front or the back of the complex could be substantial. It could possibly double the time it takes to reach Clairmont. Not a big deal until you're sick of doing it for 8 months straight, you're sick, didn't sleep the night before, it's pouring rain.... All that being said, I'm strongly leaning towards this myself.
