I deposited at the last ASW by handing my check directly to the admissions office. Even so, it took them 7 days to confirm receipt! They forewarned me that it would take a while since it has to be routed and approved by several offices. Not quite sure why. Don’t worry. It’s probably still being processed.panda wrote:so...did anyone else not hear a thing from Cornell since you sent your deposit?

I sent the check in last Monday and got email confirmation on Friday afternoon (the 17th).panda wrote:phew..ok ..thanks..spike wrote:I deposited at the last ASW by handing my check directly to the admissions office. Cornell's 75th perentile GPA of 3.84 is VERY impressive. But what happened to the 25th? I guess you have to give a little to get a little...panda wrote:so....we're lucky number 13 ...hmmm...
Yep, I didn't get this at all. From 3.54 to 3.2x? Cornell just became very splitter-friendly...JJim1919 wrote:Cornell's 75th perentile GPA of 3.84 is VERY impressive. But what happened to the 25th? Misreporting? For USNWR?woeisme wrote:There's talk that the numbers were misreported and that it should have been 3.42. That seems pretty plausible, I guess time will tell.

I asked during ASW, and if I remember correctly it was some kind of combination. Apparently if someone has great grades like Top 10%, they would only need to finish in the Top 75% of the write on competition to get in and so on.studymaster wrote:Question: Is there Grade-on for the law review at Cornell? Or only write on? What's the split?

Isn't this year's ranking based on last year's entering class?studymaster wrote:Misreporting? For USNWR?woeisme wrote:There's talk that the numbers were misreported and that it should have been 3.42. That seems pretty plausible, I guess time will tell.
What are these schools doing...
(Also, I take some blame for bringing down your GPA (but up your LSAT!) Sorry guys)
Yes. I think he is talking about next years.como wrote:Isn't this year's ranking based on last year's entering class?studymaster wrote:Misreporting? That's what I understood. It gets significantly harder for bottom-of-the-class students but at least they still get a shot.studymaster wrote:?danielfgator wrote:I asked during ASW, and if I remember correctly it was some kind of combination. So you mean it isnt grade on... it's a combination of both for each student?
Quick question woeisme, woeisme wrote:It's like this, guys ....
There are three print journals and one electronic journal:
(1) Electronic Journal: ~20 a year all write-on.
(2) Law Review: ~42 a year: 16 grade-on (they take the highest GPAs, PROVIDED that your writing score is in the top 2/3), 14 composite-on (mixture of grades and writing score), 12 write-on
(3) International Law Journal: ~40 a year: All write-on
(4) Journal of Law & Public Policy: ~40 a year: All write-on, there's also an option to work-on.
Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

Most only do one. Some do a print and the electronic. I don't think any do two prints though, and I'm not even sure if you're allowed to.danielfgator wrote:Quick question woeisme, woeisme wrote:It's like this, guys ....

Are there many students who are in several journals? Or you are only allowed to be in one at a time?

EDIT: I'm pretty sure you can't apply yet online...it will allow you to fill in the forms/submit them, but only as a current student renewing a contract or submitting an alternate room request.
You said it. Are you male or female? I'm hoping you're a guy so you didn't snatch up a potential spot for me (I talked to the lady today and she said there are 23 spots for females and 23 for males). Sigh. They really don't have their shit together, do they?vtha wrote:butternose wrote:SaraBara wrote:butternose wrote:

I already applied online too because I emailed the lady whose name is the one in charge of the graduate housing and asked her. I explained i was a first year student going into law school and she told me I could apply online. I asked her specifically if I had to wait for the application in the mail and she said I could only apply online were her exact words. So either they have some miscommunication but i took advantage of the fact that they don't have all their shit together
Now there's a charge.
