(2) Contracts Prof: I've been asked about the exam and what it will cover. The technical answer is everything we've discussed, but in truth...everything since sandbox. The exam will cover everything you've ever learned since the sandbox. In short, the exam is not testing you on Contracts, it's really testing *you*. If you've learned well since the Sandbox, you'll do well. If you, personally, are not B+ material, then you just aren't. That said, don't take it personally. It's just testing you as a person.

Not 100% sure I'm headed here, but I thought I'd post two questions for you all.

1. Is Legal Writing graded? (I'm guessing no, right?)

2. How cold does it get in Charlottesville in winter? Any ideas?

1. LRW is pass/fail. The only thing even remotely resembling a "grade" in there is that the writer of the best memo in each section gets a small award. Nobody in my section was gunning for this award...I think.

2. I'd prepare for average highs in the mid 40s-low 50s and lows in the upper 20s-mid 30s. Obviously, it can and does get colder than that on occasion.

What price range are you looking for? If you want to go high end - then I'd suggest Boar's Head Inn... upper-mid range then I would look at the Doubletree... Otherwise, anything around UVA is fine - just avoid the cavalier inn.

If you're still looking, I think the Days Inn is a pretty good deal...shuttle from the Richmond airport, just a few miles from UVA and only like $70-85 bucks a night (at least from what I remember the last time I was looking)...

Oh I have senioritis in a major way. I've been accepted at UVA...AND I attend the University of Alabama...which in case you're living under a rock is currently the number 1 football team in the nation. This weekend is our big rivalry game with Auburn University and I've managed to neatly procrastinate my term papers. Oh well, that's what dead week is for.

Please pray for our national championship hopes. It might kill me if we come this close and we don't win.

I'm taking pills, getting injections, but I'm hanging on. Just kidding. I'm alright, it definitely stinks, but at least Tebow didn't win the Heisman (again). We're going to the Sugar Bowl which we're almost guaranteed to win against Utah. New Year's in New Orleans is a pretty good consolation prize. I'll drown my lost national championship hopes on Bourbon Street.

So the Admitted Student site is up. I'm going to the ASW on March 13th. Looks like it should be a pretty informative visit.

I can't log in for some reason, can anyone tell me about the ASW? I am mainly wondering whether they are just for one day or if I would need to get a hotel room to come? I'd really like to come, especially since I am only 2.5 hours away, but if it is a full weekend it will be a lot more difficult to arrange.

4-6PM - Tour of the law school and early registration for the 30 minute curricular sessions on Friday

6PM - Student Bar Association BBQ (mixer for new students)

Throughout the day: Tour of the Rotunda and main UVA grounds are available throughout the day on Thursday

Friday:

8-9AM - breakfast / registration for curricular sessions later in the day

8-8:30AM - tour of the law school

9-9:20AM - welcome from the Dean

9:30-11:30AM - Curricular sessions:

Choose 3 sessions from among Intellectual Property, Business Law, Criminal Law, International Law, Clinical Programs, Health Law, Environmental Law, Constitutional Law

11:45-12:30 - Financial Aid information session

12:30-2PM - Lunch / Activities / Student Organizations Social

To me these events sound like they are more for people who may be on the fence than those who are committed. Does anyone know if it is usually students who are definitely attending or if it is more of a tour type thing for those who are trying to decide between schools?

I'd like to come but I have already done the tour and a few of those kinds of things so I don't know if it would be worthwhile?

Yea I'm planning on going up one day around then to check out living arrangements, but if I do it around ASD I will have to get a hotel room so I have time to look at stuff. I guess I'll decide when it gets closer.
