These ones above particularly scared me. They make me wonder what I'm getting myself into.gladiator wrote:
(21) Contracts Prof: NO! You've got to beat that out of you! No. No no no! Beat it out! You've got to BEAT IT OUT.
(19) CivPro Prof: You weren't getting to it. You were CRUMBLING like a little CHILD. Stand firm MAN! What are you WEARING A DRESS??! Sheesh! I should have just called on a woman!! Stand FIRM!!
(10) Contracts Prof: You care about fact; I care about THE LAW. (later in class) YOU! With your facts! Wait until the law of evidence! There's an entire course on that! Which I've never taken. Because I DON'T CARE.
(2) Contracts Prof: I've been asked about the exam and what it will cover. The technical answer is everything we've discussed, but in truth...everything since sandbox. The exam will cover everything you've ever learned since the sandbox. In short, the exam is not testing you on Contracts, it's really testing *you*. If you've learned well since the Sandbox, you'll do well. If you, personally, are not B+ material, then you just aren't. That said, don't take it personally. It's just testing you as a person.

The quote above reminds me of this scene from "Full Metal Jacket":(19) CivPro Prof: You weren't getting to it. You were CRUMBLING like a little CHILD. Stand firm MAN! What are you WEARING A DRESS??! Sheesh! I should have just called on a woman!! Stand FIRM!!
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Do you think I'm cute, Private Pyle? Do you think I'm funny?
Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, no, sir!
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Then wipe that disgusting grin off your face.
Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, yes, sir.
[tries to stop smiling]
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Well, any fucking time, sweetheart!
Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, I'm trying, sir.
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Private Pyle I'm gonna give you three seconds; exactly three-fucking-seconds to wipe that stupid looking grin off your face or I will gouge out your eyeballs and skull-fuck you! ONE! TWO! THREE!
Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, I can't help it, sir.
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Bullshit! Get on your knees scumbag!
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: [Pyle drops down to his knees]
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Now choke yourself.
Private Gomer Pyle: [Pyle wraps his own hands around his throat]
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Goddamn it, with MY hand, numb-nuts!
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: [Pyle reaches for Hartman's hand]
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Don't pull my fucking hand over there! I said choke yourself; now lean forward and choke yourself!
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: [choking Pyle] Are you through grinning?
Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, yes, sir.
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Bullshit, I can't hear you!
Private Gomer Pyle: [louder] Sir, yes, sir.
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Bullshit, I STILL can't hear you! Sound off like you've got a pair!
Private Gomer Pyle: SIR, YES, SIR!
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: That's enough; get on your feet. Private Pyle you had best square your ass away and start shitting me Tiffany cufflinks or I will definitely fuck you up!
Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, yes, sir.

Re: UVA Class of 2012
1. LRW is pass/fail. The only thing even remotely resembling a "grade" in there is that the writer of the best memo in each section gets a small award. Nobody in my section was gunning for this award...I think.Dennis Reynolds wrote:Not 100% sure I'm headed here, but I thought I'd post two questions for you all.
1. Is Legal Writing graded? (I'm guessing no, right?)
2. How cold does it get in Charlottesville in winter? Any ideas?
2. I'd prepare for average highs in the mid 40s-low 50s and lows in the upper 20s-mid 30s. Obviously, it can and does get colder than that on occasion.

What price range are you looking for? If you want to go high end - then I'd suggest Boar's Head Inn... upper-mid range then I would look at the Doubletree... Otherwise, anything around UVA is fine - just avoid the cavalier inn.

If you're still looking, I think the Days Inn is a pretty good deal...shuttle from the Richmond airport, just a few miles from UVA and only like $70-85 bucks a night (at least from what I remember the last time I was looking)...muddywaters wrote:not high end, but not like motel 6 or super 8. ill check it out - just thought someone may know.

How are you holding up?Ellners87 wrote:Oh I have senioritis in a major way. I've been accepted at UVA...AND I attend the University of Alabama...which in case you're living under a rock is currently the number 1 football team in the nation. This weekend is our big rivalry game with Auburn University and I've managed to neatly procrastinate my term papers. Oh well, that's what dead week is for.
Please pray for our national championship hopes. It might kill me if we come this close and we don't win.

I'm taking pills, getting injections, but I'm hanging on. Just kidding. I'm alright, it definitely stinks, but at least Tebow didn't win the Heisman (again). We're going to the Sugar Bowl which we're almost guaranteed to win against Utah. New Year's in New Orleans is a pretty good consolation prize. I'll drown my lost national championship hopes on Bourbon Street.Rainmaker11 wrote:How are you holding up?

So the Admitted Student site is up. I'm going to the ASW on March 13th. Looks like it should be a pretty informative visit.

I can't log in for some reason, can anyone tell me about the ASW? I am mainly wondering whether they are just for one day or if I would need to get a hotel room to come? I'd really like to come, especially since I am only 2.5 hours away, but if it is a full weekend it will be a lot more difficult to arrange.CE2JD wrote:So the Admitted Student site is up. Re: UVA Class of 2012
Thanks CE2!
To me these events sound like they are more for people who may be on the fence than those who are committed. Does anyone know if it is usually students who are definitely attending or if it is more of a tour type thing for those who are trying to decide between schools?
I'd like to come but I have already done the tour and a few of those kinds of things so I don't know if it would be worthwhile?

Yeah, it's definitely not a mandatory event. I'm going because, while I've been on UVA's main campus, I've never seen the law school and would like to look at apartments if possible while I'm there.

Re: UVA Class of 2012
Yea I'm planning on going up one day around then to check out living arrangements, but if I do it around ASD I will have to get a hotel room so I have time to look at stuff. I guess I'll decide when it gets closer.CE2JD wrote:Yeah, it's definitely not a mandatory event.
