Sadness. I'm not going to be back at my mailing address for ages! I'm never going to be able to log in and see all the great stuff I have been locked out of all summer. Well I hope along with the netids we also get some other form of communication. Maybe an update to the admitted student site.Brucewaynegretzky wrote:Came by snail mail. Where/how exactly does one find which names are "in the system?"

Type your last name in there and it should come up with your name if you're in there. I checked today and my name showed up, although it wasn't there a couple of weeks ago when I last checked. Tells you that they're at least doing SOMETHING

Thanks. Sure enough, my name is on there, even if I don't have a netID to access my presumed e-mail account. =)

Haha I know, it's pretty useless other than to confirm that they haven't forgotten about completely lolAceOfDiamonds wrote:Thanks. Sure enough, my name is on there, even if I don't have a netID to access my presumed e-mail account. =)
I think I read somewhere that your e-mail is actually your netID with @law.georgetown.edu at the end or something like that.

Your email address is netid@law.georgetown.edu
Your temporary password is probably in the letter, so you won't be able to log in until that freaking letter arrives. I'm in the same boat!

Where do you live? I'm on the west coast and didn't get mine in the mail today, so I assume you're on the eastern seaboard?Brucewaynegretzky wrote:Came by snail mail. Checked the financial site and tuition wasn't posted yet. All I have is a credit for my seat deposit.

That's the only area in which Georgetown disappoints. Not that practical in teachings (at least in my areas) and no business concentration. I'm going to make my own based on bus. curriculum from UVa and Vandy. Actually pretty easy, and I've got enough degrees as is.Splitt3r wrote: +1
Thanks for the encouragement re: B-school. I dunno, I was kind of up in the air about it and still am, but recently I've been leaning towards getting out into the workforce asap to get rid of some of this soul-crushing debt. We'll see.

While you are technically correct in saying that there is no "business concentration" (because Georgetown doesn't offer concentrations/certificates at all), there is the JD/MBA Joint Degree program and there are several course clusters in "business law": Administrative Law; Antitrust Law; Commercial and Advanced Contract Law; Communications Law; Corporate Law and Securities Regulation; Employment and Labor Law; Intellectual Property, Entertainment, and Technology Law... and several more. Georgetown offers far more course options in "business law" (and probably just about any other specialty, as well) than does any other school in the country (except maybe Harvard); you just have to be more specific about what KIND of business law.
Oh yeah-- and you can also take classes at the main campus (under a different program) AND have those credits count toward your JD (a reasonable number of credits, at least) as long as you can justify the applicability of the course to your course of study and future plans.

I also got the mailing. Other than the e-mail account, I'm not quite sure what we're supposed to be able to access, but I'm still excited about just that and minutes ago joined the Georgetown facebook networkAceOfDiamonds wrote:Just got my GoCard number, university netID and e-mail address.Jadcia wrote:For those wondering, the info is:AceOfDiamonds wrote:Strangely, I'm on the eastern seaboard and have yet to receive this mystical mailing.

That is really exciting news. I'm definitely going to take some classes through here, in that case. I'm really interested in real estate law, especially w/r/t development, so it'd fit well with my interests.gilchristh wrote: Oh yeah-- and you can also take classes at the main campus (under a different program) AND have those credits count toward your JD (a reasonable number of credits, at least) as long as you can justify the applicability of the course to your course of study and future plans.

hello all,
so as it turns out our email/ netid names are our initials...
does anyone know if we can change our email addresses?
gringa's parents gave her a beautiful name, but unfortunately did not realize what the initials would spell.

gringa's parents gave her a beautiful name, but unfortunately did not realize what the initials would spell.I was wondering the same thing, just because they gave me a somewhat odd number after my initials, and I'd much rather just have my first two initials+my full last name.
i'll try to muster my courage to call tomorrow. will keep you posted.

No you cannot change your netid. The numbers at the end are where you fall in line of people with the same initials as you. As far as I know, no one has ever been able to get their netid changed. Maybe they would make an exception for a curse, but probably not.gringa_pija wrote:haha, not ASS... close, but not quite...Splitt3r wrote:I'm going to guess Assgringa_pija wrote:hello all,

i'm still going to call and try to give it a shot... even though it's not a curse, it's still not an email address i would EVER use professionally.
