I don't mean to discourage MAP participation, but you could always do like I did: just show up to the social events and parties*. Of course, it was a *little* awkward, since I had all of these imaginary friends (ie friends from LSD) I was meeting IRL for the first time. People kept running over and saying "Ohh, you're _____?!" It took some explaining.

*And for the record, I wasn't deliberately being a delinquent. I had planned to do MAP and then agreed to go back and speak to the incoming students in my old grad program, so I missed the first day. Wasn't going to pass up a free trip to Ithaca, but I still wanted to meet everyone at MAP.

Also, I'm going to stick around Ace Deuce to study for the bar - summer starters should hit me up.

The MAP leaders doing it this year are some great/cool kids, so if you get a chance to do it. Do it. If you're waitlisted, come anyway and just hang out at the social events. You'll probably have to find your own housing though.

MAP for summer starters doesn't start until after our classes, right?

Me too - I think it starts June 3 or something right around there.

Anyone know what a rough estimate is regarding the # of people that participate?.

In the email I got in response after saying I was sad to be waitlisted, they said it is limited to 40 people. If tons and tons of people want to do it this year, maybe they will have DoubleMAP and most of us can be in the slacker section.

My parents live in AA and I will be there starting in July regardless of MAP, so if I can't get off the waitlist, I will definitely lurk around at the social events. Then I can spend the next several years being remembered as "the girl from MAP who wasn't really in MAP." It will be awesome, but not as awesome as that frog kid I hear tell about.

They sent out the info well before the deposit deadline.

I think it went out to all admitted students rather than students who had paid the deposit.

Looks like I got it on March 24th.

I got info about MAP by email on March 24, ages before I sent in my deposit. I don't think they ever mailed anything, but I could be forgetting.

Whew, I'm glad I submitted my MAP stuff before even submitting my deposit... I just got confirmation that my info was received. I hope some of you guys can get off the waitlist and join me! If not, then I hope to at least see some of you at the bar

Looking at those pics makes me want to be in Ann Arbor right now! I think I'm going to make a trip over memorial day weekend to look for housing. Will anyone else be around that weekend?

My deposit was received and confirmed, and so I feel officially qualified to post in this thread

Edit: Technically, I am still agonizing a tiny bit over UPenn (have to decide by May 5) and riding CLS/NYU wait lists. But Penn has offered $0 in scholarship so I'm 95% sure it'll be Michigan.

You must be my twin! I was also agonizing over Penn and I was also on those waitlists. I took myself off of CLS already. I got some grants from Penn but nothing significant. Just commit and block Penn outta your mind. Pretend it doesn't exist so you won't feel like you made a mistake.

I think so. As much as I love CLS, it just doesn't make financial sense. There are many things I love about Mich as well. Plus, Mich has more of PI emphasis than CLS.

i turned down Penn for a dean's scholarship at UMich as well. job prospects are similar at both schools, and i loved Michigan's atmosphere/clinics.
