Re: Cornell Class of 2012
So I have to dish on my awkward moment today...so I'm turning in my AOP homework for Johnson and I run into Clermont and of course like a dork I say with starstruck eyes "Oh you're Prof. Clermont right?" He nods Yes, I continue, " Oh I sat in on your Civ Pro class during ASD", He responds, "Oh OK"...I then say "OK see you around"... He walks away...Can you say AWKWARD
...I then run into him again about 5 mins later and he goes "Welcome to Ithaca"...LOL!! I'm so glad I don't have class with him...I wanted to just die....my BF was like could you have made that any more awkward...OK I'm glad I got that off my chest!

its probably one of those times where you have to be there, but, why was it awkward?
oh, and how is AOP orientation? what are we non-cool kids missing?

Re: Cornell Class of 2012
It was awkward because I think I was kind of glaring at him like he was a huge celebrity and then his responses were just so dry....Like here I am all enthusiastic to meet him and he's like "Oh OK"...it could've been one of those you had to be there moments...AOP hasn't officially started but we just had to submit our case briefs to Prof. Johnson so she can give us feedback..On Monday all the good stuff starts I'll keep you guys posted...panda wrote:its probably one of those times where you have to be there, but, why was it awkward?

let/them/eat/cake wrote:so this is a software suggestion question (and i've read some of the other threads on this, but wanted to see what y'all specifically are doing/think the way to go is....):
option 1: macbook pro + vmware fusion 2.0 + windows + office 2007 (run it on windows, so i can run onenote).
i'd run office on windows via vmware, easy interface switching between mac osx apps and the windows programs.
option 2: screw virtualization, get office for mac and get circusponies notebook (consensus notetaking software for mac?) and go for it....
I'm trying to think of other advantages, other than onenote, to getting windows set up on a mac....like, i suppose, if i wanted to install some games of some sort? idk, i'm just spitballing here (e.g. i haven't played video games in years, but if i were so inclined, i'd prob rather do that on windows right?).
thoughts, suggestions, sarcastic remarks are all welcome.
K, so I'm completley changing what I said before, check out http://maclawstudents.com/blog/ for tips and suggestions.
In addition to notebook view on word, look at circus ponies' NoteBook, and OmniOutliner/OmniGraffle.

Clermont is a very odd person. He gave me one word or one sentence answers often times in office hours or after class, unless I managed to pose a question that he found (for whatever reason) interesting. The responses you got are absolutely typical Clermont. Not to say he's a bad professor, but just that he believes in the whole "law is primarily self-taught" mantra.panda wrote:haha! ok, the staring thing makes it a bit awkward. you should have just asked for his autograph and been done with it!TopLaw_Diva wrote:It was awkward because I think I was kind of glaring at him like he was a huge celebrity and then his responses were just so dry....Like here I am all enthusiastic to meet him and he's like "Oh OK"...it could've been one of those you had to be there moments...AOP hasn't officially started but we just had to submit our case briefs to Prof. Johnson so she can give us feedback..On Monday all the good stuff starts I'll keep you guys posted...panda wrote:its probably one of those times where you have to be there, but, why was it awkward?

And while I'm here, case briefs decline in importance as time goes on. The only class I was briefing for by the end of first semester was Con Law, which was incidentally my worst grade. Really, only do it if it helps you. Second semester, I did strictly book briefs (color-coded highlighters for holding, facts, procedural posture, etc) and made marginal notes.

few-time poster, long time lurker here. Just got in last night so I'm down for Sunday.Other25BeforeYou wrote:I'm game for Sunday.hokoelc wrote:Sorry I missed last night too, my parents were in town. Still, this Saturday or Sunday will be perfect. Anyone?
P.S. I just noticed you can choose to "disable smilies" on this site. What kind of person would do that? Like who would make an effort to not see or give smilies?

Hey Guys-
I am trying to find an apartment. Does anyone have any available in your building? Preferably with lots of light and hardwood floors? Please let me know- I'm getting desperate! Looking to move in Friday. Thanks.

9 at Dunbars sounds like a plan to me unless there are any objections/suggestions.

One of my good friends who just moved to Ithaca was checking out some studios in the commons in the $500 range, they were well lit, but hardwood floors I didn't really see. I know there were at least a few left as of earlier this week... So that might be a place to checkMaiKleenex wrote:Hey Guys-
