I didnt have any of them, but I heard that Summers terrifies most people. A few people I know really liked him, but most did not at all. I know one of your TAs for Weigold, and your TA is awesome. She said she really liked Weigold too.TopLaw_Diva wrote:I was wondering if any of the rising 2Ls have any insider information of the following professors, I've tried the ratemyprofessor route but can't seem to find anything:
Summers (Contracts), Weigold (Lawyering), Dorf (Con Law), Wendel (Torts)
Thanks guys!!!
I posted about Rossi a few posts back. Freed is new this year so no one knows anything yet. I know a couple of her TAs and they are cool. I dont even know who Hans is.missv463 wrote:thanks for the insight on the professors!
what about these professors: Rossi, Freed, and Hans?

LeahNic wrote:Ok, if you want more tips on professors -- here are my thoughts on the first year profs I had.
Civ Pro (fall) Rossi -- great teacher, terrified me at first but loved him eventually. DONT miss class. Everything he says write down. When you get to the test its simply a matter of transferring what you wrote down. He doesn't like you to ramble about issues that ARENT actually there. I missed 2 days of class and seriously those two days were really important I realized later. He has great stories too. And whoever gets called on the first day-- don't feel too bad-- no one knows what is going on.
Would that include the use of the microphones at each seat in room G90 ( I think that's it) during a cold call?ZaphodBeeblebrox wrote:I hear Summers is a very technologically-savvy guy who embraces the use of electronics in his teaching.TopLaw_Diva wrote:I was wondering if any of the rising 2Ls have any insider information of the following professors, I've tried the ratemyprofessor route but can't seem to find anything:

I've only used those microphones once, and that was for a video conference call during a lawyering class. Otherwise, you just speak up.TopLaw_Diva wrote:Would that include the use of the microphones at each seat in room G90 ( I think that's it) during a cold call?ZaphodBeeblebrox wrote:I hear Summers is a very technologically-savvy guy who embraces the use of electronics in his teaching.TopLaw_Diva wrote:I was wondering if any of the rising 2Ls have any insider information of the following professors, I've tried the ratemyprofessor route but can't seem to find anything:

I sure hope not! Anyway, my comment was an attempt at sarcasm. The only thing I have heard about Summers so far is from this TLS thread which describes his ban on laptops in the classroom...TopLaw_Diva wrote:Would that include the use of the microphones at each seat in room G90 ( I think that's it) during a cold call?ZaphodBeeblebrox wrote: I hear Summers is a very technologically-savvy guy who embraces the use of electronics in his teaching.
Wait!!! I haven't heard that one yet...is that true? Are we really supposed to write out our notes from his lecture? I haven't done that ...well since high school...I think things just got a little more interestingZaphodBeeblebrox wrote:I sure hope not! Anyway, my comment was an attempt at sarcasm. Oh it's happening, come hell or really ridiculously, I'm talking biblical, high water (The chapter house is up on the hill so the water would have to be VERY high indeed).hokoelc wrote:in response to the meet-up on saturday... i'm in if it's happening! imma be all alone over the weekend, and pre-orientation jitters will probably kick in. really glad that more people are arriving over the next couple days

I'm going to miss out again this Saturday...my friend's birthday is Saturday. I might be in Ithaca Thursday though, if anyone is interested in meeting up.sheltron5000 wrote:Oh it's happening, come hell or really ridiculously, I'm talking biblical, high water (The chapter house is up on the hill so the water would have to be VERY high indeed).hokoelc wrote:in response to the meet-up on saturday... i'm in if it's happening! imma be all alone over the weekend, and pre-orientation jitters will probably kick in. really glad that more people are arriving over the next couple days
After the colossal failure that was last weekend, if we can't make it work this saturday, I'm just going to give up on meeting anyone all together.

also, was up last Friday, and found a place to live up on Dryden ("Now we're building a house!" for all you AD fans out there); also, had dinner at Stella's, and the food was great. i'm moving up on the 23rd, and am looking forward to meeting everyone.
I just bought it. It's $145 a year, or $90 a semester. If you want access to the bouldering walls (apparently there are two), it's another $30/yr.Other25BeforeYou wrote:http://www.fitness.cornell.edu/let/them/eat/cake wrote:quick question: anyone know if there is a fitness center of some sort to which we law students have access? i don't seem to be getting any younger, nor my metabolism any faster, so i figure i should try to staunch the bleeding, so to speak.....

You can buy a membership, I think it's $135, but I don't quite remember. Good for any of the fitness centers.

I'm kind of annoyed that the Noyes Center (gym closest to me) doesn't open til 7:00 AM during the school year. Doesn't that seem kind of late for a gym?como wrote:I just bought it. edit: my uncle is probably taking the boat on Thursday, so I don't think that's the best day for a sailing excursion. Next week, for sure.
