PM if you'd like to know. I don't think it would do any good though as I'm URM and my app file is based primarily on my softs.scott82 wrote:Congrats! I'm hoping to hear soon; been 3 weeks since I got accepted.

What sort of grades do you need to maintain to keep the scholarship?rainmaker614 wrote:So I just got my scholarship offer via snail mail for Iowa. FULL Tuition Law Opportunity Fellowship for the entire 3 years plus a Research Assistant job for 2L and 3L. This is probably the happiest moment of my life lol. Wow, to think I was just about to stop considering Iowa because how high the price would be considering my other options. This changes everything!

The fellowship doesn't have any stipulations. Since it isn't only based on merit, but also socioeconomic background, work experience, and contribution to diversity, it shouldn't have any stipulations. Plus, its technically a fellowship, not a scholarship, which again would mean no grade requirements from what I gathered. The full ride merit-only based scholarships might be different but I think Iowa generally doesn't follow the whole 3.25 GPA or bust attitude that other schools have in regards to scholarships.mikeytwoshoes wrote:What sort of grades do you need to maintain to keep the scholarship?rainmaker614 wrote:So I just got my scholarship offer via snail mail for Iowa. Re: Iowa 2012
I am sending in my Iowa application today and I have two questions for you lucky acceptances:
1. I noticed that the PS instructions for the Iowa app. have specific questions to be addressed in the PS (e.g. why do you want to study law, what is your most significant accomplishment, etc.). Did you tailor your PS to address these questions or did you basically submit the PS you submitted to other schools?
2. The app. asks for class rank. I don't believe my university (I went to a UC for undergrad) ranks students. Should I write "not known" in the question space?
Thanks!

1. I addressed everything they asked for on the PS instructions. My PS for Iowa was probably the most customized of the schools I applied to.DCDeckard wrote:I am sending in my Iowa application today and I have two questions for you lucky acceptances:

2. My UG does not rank as well. I had my UG send a letter to confirm it doesn't rank, although I don’t think it was necessary as I was accepted right around the time my UG told me they sent the letter. I think that information is generally included on university transcripts.

1. I addressed a few things with my PS, but not all of them. I think they're more suggestions that guidelines or necessities. I did add a "Why Iowa?" section, and I highly suggest you add that one at least.
2. My UG doesn't rank. I just put N/A. Easy enough.

1. I didn't tailor my PS to the "Why Iowa?" question, but I'm also a resident and did my UG at Iowa, so I wouldn't recommend it for everyone; I just hoped it would be self-explanatory.
2. I don't remember putting my class rank on it. They probably had access to it anyway, being my alma mater.

I disagree; I just went back to look at my app and I think the instructions are pretty clear: "Write a personal statement (limited to two or three pages) that addresses the following questions."crystalhawkeye wrote:1. However, upon re-review of my app just now I realized I made a mistake, which goes to show you can still get in despite a mistake on your app.

1. I just sent in the same generic PS I used for other schools, no alterations. Iowa ended up being the last app I sent and was very last minute because they sent a fee waiver. Who would've thought I'd end up going to a school I didn't even originally apply to haha!

Write about what makes you want to go to Iowa, or what drives you to go to law school. You'll be fine.

Good luck with that. They mention them on the website, but I'm curious as to whether they actually exist.Lawguru wrote:My Fafsa is in. They told me I was WAY agead of the game, so I'm just going to send the IVF, and watch my full ride need based scholly roll in

Ditto. Or if they do, in what capacity. I might be banking on this for any aid, so I'm hoping something is out there.hoosier1508 wrote:Good luck with that.
