Highland Lake? Thats where I lived undergrad. I know I am on the waitlist, but I went to Emory undergrad and thought I can answer any questions people may have. So have at me.

I found a 3 bed room house right off of North Decatur Rd., about a 15 minute walk from the Law School that is $625 a month before utilities or $700 including everything. The place is furnished and I drove through the neighborhood it looks pretty nice.

Message me if anyone is interested in joining in.

Is anyone else looking at renting a non-complex apartment? Nothing against the complexes; I'm just thinking I'll be happier in a small building. Of course, this all means I haven't been able to sign a lease yet, since those places are just now getting listed for July. It seems like a lot of people rent near the law school in a complex their first year, and then move out to the Highlands or elsewhere for 2L year. I just hate moving and would rather be settled somewhere I love to begin with.

I'm coming down (from NC) next weekend to check out some apartments, and I'm really hoping to get it settled on that trip. One less thing to stress over for the next two months, right?

Anyone here mail the deposit on 4/15? If so, have you heard from Emory? like a "We got your deposit!" email or something like that?

My story: mailed deposit 4/15, haven't heard anything yet, although the USPS website says my letter was delivered 4/17 or something like that...

Email them, they got right back to me when I did.

i mailed mine on 4/14 and emailed them a few days later, but they never responded to me. you should log into your OPUS account. I checked mine and saw
"Total Account Balance: $-250.00" as of 4/17.

I sent in the deposit before the 4/15 deadline, but I didn't get a confirmation email until at least two weeks later. They are probably still processing your deposit, but it can't hurt to shoot them an email and double-check. :D

Hey everyone --

I'm planning on living at Briarcliff. I already requested one of the 3bedroom $615 and am signing a lease. If any females are looking for a cool roommate let me know. I study a fair amount, but wouldn't mind having roommates that like to have fun now and then. PM if you want to talk!

Are all of you planning on securing off-campus housing in July or August? Is the law school helpful in finding students places to live? Thanks!

Will anyone be on campus tomorrow (Saturday)? I'll be there most of the day, so PM me if anyone out there wants to grab coffee or meet at the student center since the law school will be dead with the lovely smell of finals week.

Has anyone been able to find the laptop requirements? Theres a link to a computer requirements page from the accepted students page but I can never find a solid list of requirements. I'm planning on getting a new macbook pro but I just wanted to make sure it will be okay for exams and everything.

Timmy,
was this before or after the 4/15 deposit deadline? i feel like some scholly$$ is freed up after 4/15, assuming some scholarship-applicants dont accept Emory--this always happens, no?

When I visited Emory a couple of weeks ago the head of admissions told me like acceptances, they give out more $$$$ than they can actually handle, and it looks like more people took $$$$$ then they expected so they will be over budget.

+1, especially if they are over the budget. Besides with your deposit down, what is their incentive to offer you more $$?

I'm slowly starting the apartment search! Although I'm not going to get serious until June. I'm going to try to tour a couple of complexes close to campus this week, and maybe tour Campus Crossings next week.

For those of you who have visited Campus Crossings at Briarcliff, what were the furnishings like? Was the furniture cheap and dorm-y? Did the apts feel like dorm apartments? I like the convenience of CC, but would hate to feel like I'm living in a dorm again.

The Campus Crossings apartments were definitely nicer than dorm apartments (at least the dorm apartments where I went to school!). Everything is new, and the furniture is contemporary/modern, so the apartments feel more like "model"/show apartments than typical dorm room apartments. Plus, each unit comes with its own washer/dryer, which is pretty nice. It's definitely worth checking out first hand.

I'll be in Atlanta Friday-Sunday to check out some apartments. I can relay what I learn afterward. Also, to anybody currently in Atlanta, I'd love to grab a drink of either the alcohol or caffeine variety.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
