Re: Wisconsin-Madison 2012!!!
I just got an info packet in the mail from Wisconsin-Madison, with a letter addressing me by name, not some form letter. It asked me to apply and also included a brochure about URMs at Wisconsin. Here is the thing, all my #'s are up on LSAC and they are not great, so did Wisconsin see my #'s anyways and send me a packet or did they just see my URM status (native american)? I guess what I am trying gauge my chances at being accepted, originally I opted not to apply because I thought their #'s were too much of a reach and I was already reaching at like four other schools, but since they sent me that packet I applied today. What do you guys think?
Here are my #'s: LSDAS GPA - 2.9, LSAT - 153 (yeah, yeah I know)

Seems this way from a number of schools, really. Madison is just one of them. Which stinks, haha.braun223 wrote:Anyone else feel like their is a very small amount of decisions that have been sent out? According to LSN and the amount of activity on this thread it seems like not many people have heard from Madison.

I'm also Native American and received this email. They seem to REALLY like diversity and went out of their way to show me with a diversity specific letter and the extra brochures. I hope I have a good chance as my numbers are closer to their medians. BTW, most letters address you by name, but are still generic, they just use mail merge.

If you are native american (URM) and have numbers close to their medians I can't see you not getting in.

Re: Wisconsin-Madison 2012!!!
Just called admissions to see if everything was ok with my application package and if there was a timeline for decisions. The woman on the phone said that they usually send out decisions 6-8 weeks after receiving them. Then she saw that I went complete 10/13 and said a decision would be sent out "in the next few weeks." Ugh.

Re: Wisconsin-Madison 2012!!!
I asked about the status of mine using their online chat feature and the person told me I'll have a decision within 3-5 weeks. (I went complete the beginning of October), so I'm not too happy about the wait

I'm still waiting too. Iowa is on me like white on rice though, and I think that's where I'll wind up. Question: Why are you all attracted to UW-M over another higher ranked big 10 school? Location? Just curious.

I'm not really sure I will attend even if accepted. 22+ years in Wisconsin has been more than enough for me.ColtonDLong wrote:I'm still waiting too. I also chatted with admissions, and they said that my file was reviewed and a decision** had been made...I'll be receiving it in the next 1-2 weeks.
I have no idea what to think, but it's time to start praying (and no, I'm not religious). If [somehow, via miracle] accepted, I will attend without question.

"an admission has been made"? Are those the exact words?

Call the director of admissions, she might be able to tell you if you got accepted. Waiting is just painful if you know there is already a decision.

Re: Wisconsin-Madison 2012!!!
Nah, I'll have to wait this one out, especially because I'm on the lower end of their admissions standards. I'm prepared for a ding, but am really hoping to catch a huge break...Jwatson wrote:coolkatz321 wrote:Fixed, my bad. Re: Wisconsin-Madison 2012!!!
According to the chat with admissions person, my file is now under review and it might still be a few weeks. I applied late but i still want to wring necks.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
