180. Clermont will literally have the exact same wording in 3 different books.

Don't bother with his hornbook. You can't bring it into the exam and it doesn't say anything different than his other books. Just make sure you have his BLO because you can bring that into the exam. I think a lot of ppl just copy their outline into the BLO.

i heard from a 3L friend that he gets a lot of his questions from the supplements rather than the actual casebook.. and that we should put some emphasis on those..

so..anything else (tips, hints, etc..) we should know about our professors?

personally, I have Mollenkamp (heard he is really nit-picky), Johnson (don't know much..), Hilman (heard he's funny..), Heise (gets a lot of love, but don't know much about him..), and Clermont (arrogant is all i got..)

what can you oh-so-wise rising 2Ls let us know?

Mollenkamp is cool. All lawyering profs are nit-picky, but Mollenkamp really wuvs his students. Johnson is kinda hard to relate to and I can't say more publicy, Hillman is not funny. He only seems funny because he tries to make jokes that are not funny and his delivery is so awkward that people laugh. Heise likes "the money shot", and likes it when you can "flip it." I don't think he knows what a money shot actually is. Clermont is like a civpro Rainman.

Here's my take on the profs that I had:

Mollenkamp: Pretty good. His personality can get a little wearisome, at least to me, in larger doses. On another note, the female contingent of your writing TA group will be awesome.

Hillman: Funny in an awkward sort of way, and endearing like a grandfather. He really likes his subject, and he isn't really that tough of a questioner in class. I got cold-called the first day, and I'll never forget him for that. He uses the same jokes in his hornbook as he does in class, or at least the same kind of jokes. Nevertheless, do know your stuff. Ask a 2L that had Hillman about the Piersall Incident, and you'll know why.

Clermont: Really, just weird. I remember going to his office a few times, and each time his answer was "we'll get to that in a couple of weeks," followed by a very weird smile and an "is there anything else?" Halfway through his exam, someone from administration came in and announced that the word limit listed on his very strange essay question was correct. Maybe civpro rainmain is the best way to describe him.

Also, don't ask Hillman if he's on something, even if he tells you that he is.

I loved Clermont but I don't think that most people did. The guy is very smart and knows a craplaod about Civ Pro. His final is a joke though (I only had him second semester though). 1/2 multiple choice (hardest fucking ones you will ever take) and 1/2 essay. The multiple choice questions can best be described as factoids (IE: What was the court holding in this case?). At least 6/7 questions came from the stories book, so make sure you read it carefully (you can bring it into the exam though). His essay had a word limit of 300 words. Remember, the essay was worth 1/2 the test. The test that is the sole determiner of YOUR GRADE. So 1/2 of your grade in civ pro came from a 300 word essay.

I just realized that Clermont was the professor who taught the class on Res Judicata when I was at Cornell for ASD. And then I got really excited.
