You can add me to the 2012 list as well. I mailed my deposit last week.

He'll still be suspect. One must be born a Michigan Man in order to be considered above reproach.

(I emphasize "Man" because we'll take any woman that wants to declare her alegiance!)

If I follow through on my plan to forget about exams and go to the Bahamas for the next three weeks, I'll be in the class of 2012 as well!

Do it AP. Who cares about a year's worth of tuition when you have the Bahamas ahead of you?
And for the those of you who have yet to post in the TLS Class of 2012 thread, get on that stat. We need more street cred, dammit!

Summer starters have their own MAP program. It's kind of different because I think it actually happens once you start school.
I would ask admissions or Trudy Feldkamp in the law school.

Re: Michigan 2012
Got this off Michigan's facebook!
MAP is Michigan Access Program.
The program involves several core activities:
1) It tries to acclimate you to law school by having you read cases and do a mock class.
2) Current students (I was invited as a facilitator, but I can't promise that I will be one during MAP) guide MAPers by providing their law school wisdom, i.e., study methods, exam-prep methods, how to get involved in student groups.
3) The program is also all about diversity, so there are activities dedicated to acquainting people to different ethnicities and ideologies. This aspect of the program wasn't that good, but it took up very little time, so that was fine.
You generally have the nights to yourselves, so it's great to relax and accustom yourself to Ann Arbor before law school begins. Most meals are paid for, as are all nights in the (rather nice) hotel. You get to move to Ann Arbor early. It's pretty much a win-win situation.
No, win-win-win.

there is a tiny tiny chance that I'll work MAP, but it's much more likely that I'm just doing orientation.

I don't get how the MAP is supposed to work for summer starters if there are no rising 2L and 3L students around. Don't they sort of run the show? Also, it seems like it would be less fun if it is happening after classes begin.

there are people around.
Lots of 3Ls around (who graduated) because they're studying for the bar. Pretty much no 2Ls around. Some 1Ls around who are working in the area doing public interest or something.

I just sent in my deposit as well..... I have a question that is most likely going to make me look very ignorant, but oh well, how do we/when can we register for classes for the Fall '09 term?

Re: Michigan 2012
you don't register for classes for your first semester. Your first semester you will be given a set schedule and for your second semester you can choose 1 elective.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
