If you want a nice athletic complex, you end up paying for it. Every full time student at Mizzou has to pay fees ($158 per semester) to the rec center here. It is new and awesome, but also expensive. Living off campus, I'd rather choose someplace close to me.

Does anyone know if there is an included or optional fee for the use of Wash U's athletic facilities? Are we entitled to use the facility without cost as law students?

Yea, it was the same way at my undergrad,(UF) but 40 bucks a month is pretty darn cheap for an awesome gym membership not in a college town. Athletic facility fees are usually mandatory, and I expect the same for Wash U.

Probably too early to tell. When the 2nd deposit deadline is up, that's when I bet you'll be seeing more movement.

Not that citing a pricing sheet from 2001-2002 seems all that reliable, but it also says that you can use all other areas of the Athletic Complex without a fee. I read that to mean we can play basketball, swim, play racquetball, etc without fee.

Another +1 for basketball. Looks like they have (at least this year) all kinds of intramural sports (link: --LinkRemoved--). They offer women's soccer in the fall, guys soccer in the spring, and co-ed soccer in the fall. And men's, women's, and co-ed basketball. They even have 3-on-3 basketball, which is awesome. Sounds like the gym is absolutely ancient, but if we can play pickup basketball then I guess I can live with it. I agree that it's very dissappointing though.

At least if the people on this board are indicative of the incoming student body as a whole, we should have no problem getting together intramural teams, even for this fall. I'm starting to get excited about meeting everyone and starting law school.

I've been on Craigslist a lot recently checking out places, and there are a decent amount of those types of places in the Central West End.
