2.74 gpa : ( What LSAT score do I need?
I left undergrad with a 2.74 gpa mainly due to my freshman year gpa of 1.75. Sadness I know. What LSAT score do I need or should I shoot for in order to get into law school.

You're going to need at least a 160 if you want a shot at anything remotely decent (lower T2 or state T3 schools).

Always shoot for a 180.School? wrote:Depends on the school. I would say 180 just to be safe.
If you are looking for T14, I would think 172+ would be a good goal.

181.
But seriously, it depends on what schools you're looking into. Also, on what undergrad you went to, and what your major was - if it was poly sci or philosophy you're going need a higher LSAT; if it was biochemical engineering you may have a little more wiggle room.
High 160s should get you into a Tier 1, mid to high 170s for for T14.
Maybe someone else with more comparable stats could give some advice...

My B.A is in Criminal Justice. I averaged a 3.32 gpa in my concentration.

You won't get into any law school worth going to (Read: T14) with that GPA. Sorry.

I'm thinking you don't have a good idea on how the whole admissions game works. You have to understand that your 2.74 is going to SEVERELY lower the majority of schools 25-75% means. To make up for that, you need a high LSAT to make yourself even somewhat attractive. Now for lower ranked schools, it won't matter as much... but it still matters. Plus do some research on what employment opportunities you'd even have graduating from lower tiered schools. I can tell you point blank... the law industry is HURTING BIG TIME. You'd have an almost impossible time trying to pay off loans on $150,000 debt making less than $40,000 a year. And those loans will haunt you FOR LIFE, regardless of bankruptcy.darylfarrad wrote:misformafia wrote:181.

Why don't you list schools you'd be interested in attending, and let's go from there.

So completely incorrect at every level.LawandOrder wrote:You won't get into any law school worth going to (Read: T14) with that GPA. Sorry.
He just needs a 176+
A 2.9GPA bottom tier state school grad with a 176 got into UPenn last year without AA.
I suggest you check LSN. In fact, I believe a few dozen people on this forum have done something similar... as long as you are 1-2 points above their 75% LSAT level you have a shot regardless of GPA.

They are not means... they are medians. 25% is the highest GPA of the 25th percentile student.Mr. Matlock wrote:\

I, like many people, wish it was a mean system for LSAT.

i had a 2.72 GPA and i got into American no problem. i had a 163 on the LSAT. i will say that 163 seems to be their cutoff for acceptances, though. some people i know had 160-162s and a higher GPA than i did and got waitlisted or rejected.

anytime man. i just hope you weren't being sarcastic or makin fun of me or anythin like that. i assume you aren't since you are the OP, but realize that it's difficult to pick up the tone of voice on an internet discussion board. if you have any other questions about applying, i'll be happy to help. i know some people on here are rather abrasive and are less than willing to help and can make you feel like shit.

A statisitically insignificant quantity of those who apply, sure. Should the OP bank on it? Of course not.custom_concern wrote:That's a lie. People do it every year.LawandOrder wrote:You won't get into any law school worth going to (Read: T14) with that GPA. Sorry.

I see you listed Howard. Are you URM? That would help out some.
Otherwise:
167+ try for WUSTL (also UIUC, IUB, GWU)
170+ try for NU (also GULC, UVA, Mich)
175+ shoot as high as Penn
For your listed schools, 163 or so for American, and lower for the others.
