Anyone have a good experience requesting a fee waiver from Ann Arbor? I'm considering sending an e-mail....1.71/3.75. Worth a shot?

Earlie ITT, people pointed out how willing Michigan was to grant fee waivers. I asked (with much lower stats than yours) but did not receive one. It is definitely worth a shot though. (As a side note, I appreciated them telling me directly, "Your stats don't qualify you" as opposed to giving the G-Town song and dance.)likeaspark wrote:Anyone have a good experience requesting a fee waiver from Ann Arbor? Has anyone had success requesting a waiver from Chicago or do they always give the Columbia "don't call us, we'll call you" response?

Wow, that Chicago letter sounds harsh!
Anyone else think hidden fee waivers are really dumb? If the goal of the fee waiver is to encourage you to apply, how are you encouraged if you don't freaking know if you have one.

I guess that's not the only goal of fee waivers, depending on the institution. Some schools might actually want to reward you for your achievements -- but only if you were already interested. It's actually quite...noble.hoopsguy6 wrote:Wow, that Chicago letter sounds harsh!

I have a 174 and have not gotten one.emptybee wrote:What are the cutoffs for Chicago waiver?
I also got the same email as the one posted above after I requested one. They must know I'm interested in them and was replying regardless.

I too got a "shhh! super-secret, don't-tell-him-about-it" waiver from UGA.
Too bad for them, b/c I was about to pay them anyway. Nice surprise when LSAC said I didn't have to.

For those of you who have gotten fee waivers through traditional mail, is it just a notification of your hidden-waiver or is it a fee waiver code that it entered when submitting?

Penn state just tells you it will be waived when you apply. So a hidden-waiver. I don't know about the rest.Jericwithers wrote:For those of you who have gotten fee waivers through traditional mail, is it just a notification of your hidden-waiver or is it a fee waiver code that it entered when submitting?

Re: 2009-2010 Fee Waiver Tracker Thread
proposed new rules:
1. When you state you got a fee waiver please put whether you requested it or not
2. State your stats
This will help reduce a lot of the random posts in this thread and help people know whether or not they qualify for it...
