It's a good article but as others have pointed out it doesn't belong in this thread at all. It's an article about the realities of employment for most law graduates pre-the bad economy.

First of all, the assumption that because the median is $70K that it's safe to assume you'll make $70K is wrong. Law grads don't typically make salaries in the middle. A few are on the high end and the majority are on the low end.

On the recession megapost, I figured I'd throw a bit in. I bumped into a guy who went to law school in my undergrad (around the 60's-70's in the rank), and finished in the top 5%, and has recently been given a pink slip. I've been talking to him about law school and all that (he was an 07 grad, or right about) and it's not really motivating. I think he should not be worrying about a job at that level, if he is actually being truthful.

I would be absolutely terrified right now if I didn't have a technical degree, 3 years of work technical work experience, and a top 10 law school acceptance. Take away any of those 3 and there's NO WAY IN HELL I would go to law school. Shit, I almost didn't go despite my current situation.

I don't think people on this board realize that people would literally kill each other for VOLUNTEER WORK at this point in the legal field. Think about that for a minute. Do you know of any other field in which people would fight so hard to be fucking volunteers???? It's unbelievable.

Wow. If you are being serious, I think this might be the douchiest post in Internet history. "I'm going to Harvard so I'll automatically get picked over others for raises / partnership." Even if it's true, you shouldn't go around rubbing it in other peoples' faces.

How do you think high economy cars, like the Prius, will work as taxi cabs? There's a push in New York to replace many of the taxi cabs with high fuel economy vehicle. But, I have to wonder how these cars are going to handle regularly carrying the weight of five adults. That's going to run 1000+ lbs of weight, along with the constant use of the AC system, which is required when Temperatures run over 85 degrees.
