Vault's Top 25 Law School Rankings
How valuable do you consider this list:
http://www.vault.com/lawschool/rankingtop25/index.jsp
I just found it and I thought it was interesting (even though the site sucks to navigate)

I thought it was interesting then I noticed that Yale isn't ranked #1.USC2009 wrote:How valuable do you consider this list:

I consider that list as valuable as this list which i just made up:
1. Yale
2. Phoenix Online
3. Clown College
4. Harvard
So, not very valuable.

Interesting. Thanks for posting this.
Re: Vault's Top 25 Law School Rankings
Not really, since I believe hiring partners at top vault firms were consulted in crafting that ranking. Unless you did the same, I doubt your list is as valuable. I don't put much stock in the vault ranking, but I'm pretty certain it's slightly better than throwing darts randomly.ShadowRabbit wrote:I consider that list as valuable as this list which i just made up:

I mean, it's nice to see HYS take a humbling dive, but... I don't really believe it.
Re: Vault's Top 25 Law School Rankings
Yes, Stanford really took a humbling dive at a meager #1...spinsta wrote:I mean, it's nice to see HYS take a humbling dive, but... I don't really believe it.

I-UB in the T14? Minnesota above GULC and UCLA? Iowa above UT? Bizarre.

My favorite one-word buzz zingers:
UC Berkeley = "Solipsistic"
GW = "Sleeper"
Minnesota = "Improving"

vault should just stick to ranking law firms, us news will typically dominate in the ranking ls arena

Re: Vault's Top 25 Law School Rankings
I think the list is a very helpful alternative. I mean, if hiring law partners at top, high paying firms aren't qualified to assess the quality of a law school in terms of employment prospects and academic strength, who the hell is?

Harvard is 6th and Indiana is above Cornell and GULC. Not buying it.

I do like seeing Stanford at #1, though. It seems S gets screwed by USNews and it's east-coast bias on every ranking.

Re: Vault's Top 25 Law School Rankings
"Vault surveyed only those people who directly assess The Value of Law School graduates in the real world once they enter the workforce- those individuals responsible for evaluating and hiring law school students. The respondents--who represent over 100 law firms"
I agree that these rankings can be very helpful. I think the skeptics might just be upset that their favorite schools and traditional powers are not at the top. I think it's entirely possible though that students from other schools are better prepared for the real world than someone who has had to endure the rigors of a Harvard law curriculum.

The rankings are useless, but the comments are excellent and very funny.
Yale: "Great lawyers if you can get them to focus on real world business issues instead of how they'd run the country"

so they mean "grind you to a bloody pulp" hours?Vault surveyed nearly 400 hiring partners, hiring committee members, associate interviewers and recruiting professionals across the country on which law schools best prepare their graduates to achieve in the firm environment.

I think it's funny that they have a quote about UVA grads being "unnecessarily arrogant". I can't remember when I've met someone who was only as arrogant as necessary.

Re: Vault's Top 25 Law School Rankings
Love the comments on the best schools. "OMG they're so entitled and arrogant, big lazy assholes who are out of touch with legal practice, that's why we keep hiring anyone in the top 75% there".
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
