transfer from UALR to Arkansas-Fayetteville
This past Fall, a friend of mine, a 2L, transferred from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Was this a good jump? What job market can a graduate of these schools get into? He said they are a lot of corporate offices near Fayetteville... i.e. Wal-Mart

I've always thought those two schools are pretty leveled. Fayetteville has a better reputation because of the Clintons connections.rothko wrote:This past Fall, a friend of mine, a 2L, transferred from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. So, the UA has a better reputation b/c of Clinton's connections? He has some strong connections to UALR LS as well. e.g. the person who UALR is named after and Clinton are friends. I'm not saying he doesn't have connections to UA as well, but would you please enlighten me as to how he has more connections to UA? Thanks

I actually have a bit of knowledge of these schools and their market.. as far as just getting a job goes the jump is pretty irrelevant. Only two law schools in the state and a very insulated market. The difference would come in if he was applying for a judicial position. UA has an edge there. For most people though, doesnt really matter which one as long as you do well.
EDIT: Shouldnt expect much mobility from either of these schools outside of the state.

George H.W. Bush and Sandra Day O'Connor have both visited U of A's law school in the past 1.5 years, FWIW.

I actually did my undergrad at UA-Fayetteville, and have a great respect for the law school there. It's on my list of possible schools...

UALR has a jump on government related opportunities given its proximity to the capital. UA can be mobile into Oklahoma or Texas if you do well.
