Does that mean you got in? Congrats!zabagabe wrote:I think they're only emailing for overseas - I'm overseas and got the email as well, and they said it was a "scan" of the one they're sending in the mail, so I assume they figured it'd take much longer to send it to overseas people and save us the extra agony. Good luck everyone!!

CLS is clearly Just. That. Good.mallard wrote:For me when I see "decision" I'm putting the date that my status checker changed to decision or the date that a decision was mailed, not the date that I receive it. I am surprised that ALL of the decisions for last year have the same date, though. Either an impressive logistical feat or a freak coincidence.

Yeah, thanks!! Good luck to everyone else. This is where collective knowledge is a dangerous thing, because I'm sure most of y'all are in too, but now you have to wait.
And for further assurance, my application status still just says "complete."

Re: Columbia Applicants Waiting Thread
If you look at Columbia decisions from last year on LSN they're not the exact same day. They are concentrated mostly between 1/23 and 1/25 (Wednesday through Friday), with a lot of decisions coming the next week after 1/28 also. That would seem to suggest snail mail.whyamidoingthis wrote:Mallard says LSN indicates that that's only for ED. I'm a little surprised because ALLLLLL the RD acceptances last year are indicated on the same day. Don't most people use the date they received the letter? I would have thought dates would be more scattered if they did everything by snail mail.cameltaur wrote:mallard wrote:No, Columbia comes in the mail.
My numbers are pretty similar to that guy's. I'm going to be twitching for days.
I thought they e-mailed a scanned copy of the acceptance letter? or is that only ED...

In! I'm an RD.
Also got a Butler Fellowship, covers half tuition. Couldn't be happier.
It's a PDF attachment in an email, I believe they send a letter as well.

I live in the same zip code as the admissions office... I'm not auto-admit, but I've got a good shot and I've been complete since early October. Sadly I don't ever get home from work until 11pm, so that DQs me from being the harbinger.amyLAchemist wrote:OK, we need some new yorkers to inform us of when they start arriving by mail.

I am indeed abroad. Perhaps that's why I got the scanned email?

Re: Columbia Applicants Waiting Thread
This is one I'm quite worried about. If I don't get it near the time everyone else does then I'm probably a waitlist or reject - (NO!)

Do schollys for CLS always come with the acceptance? I won't get one, but just to stop my nagging brain if I get accepted by some chance.

I feel like my numbers can get me in to Columbia, but they only asked for my fall quarter grades *last week* via e-mail (which I sent to them immediately). Do you think I should be worried?

Re: Columbia Applicants Waiting Thread
I'm also wondering, has consensus been reached on the meaning of the grades request? Have most people received these requests? I heard one hypothesis that it was primarily for Hamilton prospects and very borderline candidates, but this may have been dispelled.
thanks in advance

Did the mail come, or did you get notified by email?
