*Note: Non-trad w/20+ years military experience.

166/3.46

Admit: 1/1
Pos Consider: 2/2
Neg Consider: N/A
Deny: 2/3  (1 WL; 1 Ding)

I also looked at the URM tab to see if it could be used as a rough approximation to my non-trad status. Interestingly enough, with my numbers at the schools I applied to, the only change the URM tab made was to change my Pos Considers to Admits. Don't know if I have a big enough sample size to be any help here, but it did better reflect the way I preceived my chances when the cycle started.

Well, it works fine now. I don't know what was going on the first time I tried to open it.

Anyhow, thanks again!

Very nice job ! Though, I do have one problem.

This spreadsheet has me as a likely reject for NYU. This makes me sad :( .

With a 174/3.4, all the other calculators give me more than a 50% likelihood of acceptance. This seems too good to be true, but I want to believe.

If you don’t mind me asking, what formula did you use for NYU?

Thanks for this, sir!

Holy crap!

*Plugs in OS numbers and looks at schools in question*

I cannot believe all of this. No wonder my cycle has been full of fail. I am going to sue Hourmd for giving me false hope.

After plugging in my numbers, it's about what I expected to see. Neg Consider at a quarter the T14, Reject at HYS, Pos Consider at a third of the T14, admit into Cornell, and admits the rest of the way down. We'll see how it plays out.

This is a really cool tool, but I don't think it's very good for splitters. I'm a 173 3.2 and it definitely makes my chances look significantly more bleak than almost every other calculator and LSN would suggest.

Agreed. Awesome tool, tons of fun, very valuable, but probably has trouble predicting splitters. I'm an embarrassingly-low-GPA splitter, and would probably have a rougher time at some of these schools than the indices predict and an easier time at others (e.g. 'the wall' at schools like WUSTL and GMU).

Still, this is an awesome instrument for playing with the index numbers.

Sorry guys, I'm really not feelin it. It told me that I would be denied at every school I was accepted to. You just enter your scores in the first sheet, and it automatically calculates your chances on the next sheet, right?? It seems like everyone's really impressed with this thing? Don't get me wrong, it's crazy that this guys actually invented this thing. I couldn't imagine how to do that, but it was 100% wrong on my schools. Has anyone else had this experience?

If you don't mind my asking, what were your numbers, and were you URM/non-traditional/etc.?

Thanks!

Not a good predictor of my cycle. I have plenty of softs but nothing outstanding (well on this board anyway.). Great PS?

Note: URM. Used URM tab. I considered a neg consider as a WL or being admitted very late in the school's cycle.

Deny: 1/5
Admit: 1/1
Neg Consider: 1/4
Pos - 0/0

Notes: Schools in Neg Consider that came to a decision quickly and/or gave me decent scholar money I removed from Neg Consider. Let me break it down:

Denied: William Mitchell
Admit (in quick succesion): WY ($$), ND, SD, University of St. Thomas MN, Gonzaga($$), Hamline ($$$)
Admit (Near deadline): Montana
Neg Consider: ID, UNLV

Just a note. I think your SUNY-Buffalo forumula is off.

My index number is BELOW the 25th and it shows me as an auto admit. It looks like you have things pretty jumbled. The 25/75 looked switched around but the median is still higher than the 75. Perhaps the median is supposed to be the 75 and your current 25 is the median and your current 75 is the 25?

You should add entries for Yale and Harvard that give random admit/deny responses.......

I agree with everyone that said that this doesn't really predict splitters that well. . It may have helped me that I've been out of school for a couple years, it would be hard to make a spreadsheet that can take work experience into account, though. This is a fabulous tool, I just hope that people in future cycles will take it with a little grain of salt, and still apply even if their chances don't look that great!
