Yep -- mine was about 480 words. I also had a hard time not re-hashing my PS/Why Mich/Career ambitions essays.

Mine was under the limit as well. I think it was around 490 or so. Congrats on the invite!

i got an invite yesterday too! i don't really understand how it works, they give out full and half ones without knowing whether the people already offered full ones will attend or not? do they assume most will still go to hys? in any case, exciting!

Mine was about 450 words... and it was painful squeezing even that out, since I'd written a Why Michigan and talked about my future goals in my personal statement!

I did get the full Darrow invite, thankfully. I'm leaning Harvard still, but waiting on the financial aid package to make a final decision. Graduating debt-free makes such a difference in what you can do after law school.

Good luck and congratulations to everyone who got the invite!

It's probably no different than regular admissions.

They offer more scholarships than they expect to actually give because they factor in people turning them down for HYS.

I got in to Michigan 12/29 (I haven't received my packet yet, I just logged in to the admitted students site). Would I have received a Darrow invite by now, if I were getting one? I am very interested in Michigan but have already received a scholarship from UVA, I would never turn down for Michigan without $$. If I'm not in the running for the Darrow I'll probably just withdraw.

i think you could definitely still hear- i got my packet 12/23 and i just heard friday. for those of you who already got it, what's the deal with the travel stipend? don't want to count my chickens by any means but i want to book a flight asap so that it's not really expensive but wonder if they have a deal like berkeley where you have to go through their travel agent..

Last year, at least, you booked yourself then turned in receipts to get reimbursed. They'll cover flight & cab, or whatever it takes to get you there. (They paid your hotel accommodations in AA, separate from the reimbursement amount.)

Did you guys email your essays to Dean Zearfoss or mail it in? Email is so much easier but was wondering the preference since she provided all the mailing info..

Will those of you who received the Darrow be willing to give some numbers? I'm applying late in the cycle so I won't get a shot at any Darrow money, but any merit money at Michigan could definitely seal the deal on my decision. Just trying to gauge my chances, thanks!

172, 3.83

good softs, at least I believe so. Let's see if HYS think so...hope this helps your decision. But i'd say apply either way and just see what happens, but even though you are late in the cycle you may not be totally out of the running for the darrow. I remember seeing invites going in early feb last year.

Thanks for the reply. All I can do is apply and pray that I'm A.) Admitted, and B.) Asked to apply for the Darrow.

I emailed mine because she included it as an option, but I hardly doubt she'll attach a negative note to one received in a non-preferred way regardless. She seems really cool.

I received a Darrow invite on 1/9 (accepted on 12/1). I'm struggling to come up with something intelligent to say because I also covered A LOT in my original application. They asked that I respond by January 23rd so I guess that this is the second wave?

Congrats to those of you who have already heard back and good luck to those who are writing their 500-word essays or still waiting!

I got the email from them saying they have my application materials on 1/2. Haven't gone complete yet because they haven't processed the LSAC report, but I expect to go complete soon. Do you think I got it in too late to be invited for a Darrow?

All right. TODAY is the day Michigan promised us an answer on the Darrow. Anyone hear anything?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
