Should I write an addendum?

Post by mmjd12 » Thu Sep 26, 2024 9:42 am

For reasons out of my control I had two gap semesters in undergrad. One during freshman year and one during sophmore year. I explain the reason for this in my personal statement as it has to do with the story Im telling in my essay. That said, is it necessary to also include an addendum to address it? I wasn't going to initially, since I thought the essay would suffice as an explanation. But it occurred to me the person reviewing my transcript might not be reading my essay at the same time, so perhaps I should write an adenddum out of caution? I'm not sure. I also dont want to inadvertently draw unecessary attention to it if its not a big deal.

Unless the addendum is providing some type of important information that you don't already include somewhere else in the application, don't write an addendum.
