What Volunteer Activities Stand out to Admissions?

Post by tlsadmin3 » Wed Dec 23, 2020 3:25 pm

When evaluating an application, admissions counselors and decision-makers take into consideration how an applicant spent their free time because it provides valuable insight into who that person is and what they value.

Volunteer work is an excellent way to distinguish yourself amongst other applicants, but particular activities may have a competitive edge over others. Volunteer opportunities that demonstrate leadership, community engagement, genuine interest in the law and the legal system, as well as those opportunities that align with the story of "you" in your personal statement, can all positively distinguish a candidate in the admissions process.

Did you include volunteer experience in your application? What seemed to resonate with admissions, or have no effect at all? Share your insights below.
