Leveling the Playing Field in the Law School Applicant Pool

Post by tlsadmin3 » Tue Dec 22, 2020 3:02 pm

A recent study from the Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed that the law is one of the least racially diverse professions in the country.

Many speculate that the lack of racial diversity begins in the early stages of the application and admissions process, particularly as it relates to the financial burdens associated with LSAT preparation and application fees. While the LSAC waives fees for those in "extreme need," many prospective students are left with difficult choices on where or if they should apply.

Have you been deterred by admissions fees or exam preparation costs? What resources do you think would be most impactful in diversifying the admissions process, and consequently, the legal profession?
