Virtual Internship with Latham & Watkins
https://www.insidesherpa.com/show-firm- ... am&Watkins
Have anyone done a virtual internship with Latham&Watkins? Do you recommend it? Is it something worth putting on your resume?
I wanted to also post this just to spread awareness since a lot of people are quarantined up right now, and it seems like a good opportunity to test out some legal work.

Thank you for raising awareness! As a lowly 0L I would love to hear people's input about this opportunity too!

It sounds like a waste of space on your resume (even a negative, because interviewers might feel faked-out) but if you're bored in quarantine and want to kill time it probably won't, like, actively make you stupider.

This looks like PR for Latham with no measurable value for anyone who participates. You won’t be working on real cases. If it’s free and you feel like doing it, go for it, but I wouldn’t put it on your resume or pay anything for it. (Cross-posted with TLA.)

i've never done this specific one but the few i have done were pretty good so i'd recommend giving it a try. if there's space on your resume I'd definitely put it in. if nothing else virtual internships prove you're committed to getting relevant experience and it does give a bit of insight & experience with what junior lawyers deal with. not sure why others here are so down on it but it's a pretty commonplace thing to see, especially now that there's been discussion on how regular internships aren't feasible for many students.

Re: Virtual Internship with Latham & Watkins
I’ve never seen anyone list something like this.
5-6 hours of going through virtual exercises Latham has put together is absolutely not worth putting on your resume. This isn’t an actual virtual internship where you’re hired by Latham and work on their actual cases, it’s all hypothetical stuff created to demonstrate the kind of work they do. Again, it might inform you a little bit, but it’s not a work experience. Maybe put it under training I guess. I still wouldn’t.

Exactly. It's got about as much value as watching some Khan Academy lectures, with the downside that people might feel misled if they think the "internship" was an actual substantive experience, like an SEO summer or something.nixy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 5:15 pm5-6 hours of going through virtual exercises Latham has put together is absolutely not worth putting on your resume.
