January test?

Post by lawguy999 » Fri Nov 22, 2019 12:17 am

So I'm in a predicament. Been PTing around 170 or a little higher. I just got my October score of a 165. I really will only go to a T-14 if I am to go to law school. Long story short, assuming November goes awry, how bad is it to take the January test? I know it's not ideal, but how much could it cost me in acceptance chances or potential scholarship for some of the mid-T14s (Duke, Penn, Mich)? Thanks in advance.

The differences are pretty obvious: for acceptance chances, you risk getting waitlisted instead of accepted because they ran out of seats; and, for scholarship money, you risk getting nothing instead of something because they ran out of money. (Named/programmatic scholarships might be a bit different because they often have their own internal timeline.)

If you want, like, the marginal percentage chance of getting accepted in February versus December, there just aren't enough data to calculate that sort of thing, and any effect will be dominated by your LSAT performance anyway.
