Hi! I'm a former spanish law student who's trying to apply to the top law schools in the US to pursue a JD Program. I'm taking the LSAT in October and I want to try to get more than 170 in order to be a competitive applicant.
My first diagnostic test was 3 weeks ago and I got 143. I have to say that I had no idea about the test structure, types of questions or even how it worked before taking it. After 3 weeks of studying very hard every day I have gotten around the range of 162 in my previous prep tests. My exam is 3 months away from now. Do you think is possible to hit the 170+ score by then? And what should I do in order to get there as fast as possible.
Also, I'm pretty good with LG, decent at LR, but awful at RC. I keep struggling to finish on time, the science passages are killing me and, as much as I try to concentrate on the text, I keep forgetting the info. or misinterpreting it and choosing the wrong answer. Any tips on how can I improve? Is this a section that can be improved substantially?

Re: LSAT 162 TO 170+
I could never quite master RC. I felt that the questions were so subjective and that my answers (for the ones I got wrong) were just as justifiable as the “correct” ones (yes I put correct in quotes for a reason).xuug wrote:Hi! The thing that ended up working for me was to literally make it so I got every answer correct on LG and LR every single practice test. I did it because these are so learnable, in my view, relative to RC. Therefore, I felt that I was really benefiting from all of the time that I put in.
Anyway, I’m sure others on here will have RC tips, but if you manage to get everything correct on the others, you’ll get a solid score even if you’re missing 1 or even 2 RC questions per passage.

TCR. 162 shows a basic grasp on each of the three subjects. 170+ shows a mastery of two. It’s not impossible to master LG/LR, but you have to work on it until every question you see is reflexive on those two sections, which can absolutely be gamified. Took it twice went from 164>173 and still have no clue how to nail difficult RC questions beyond narrowing it down to a 50/50 shotThe thing that ended up working for me was to literally make it so I got every answer correct on LG and LR every single practice test.
