Can someone get into a T6 law school with a ~3.7 GPA and 174+ LSAT?
I go to an HYP (the one that deflates). I happened to get an A minus in every. single. course. last semester (I'm a freshman), resulting in a solid 3.70 GPA. This semester is no different, as it seems through my midterm grades that I will again get all A minuses (unless I can pull up my Polisci, Multi and Econ class to a solid A, which won't be that hard but it will be a stretch). I recently took a mock LSAT and got a 174 (surprised myself). I have already decided not to go to Law school if I can't get T6 + UVA. ceteris paribus, can I get into a T6 for sure? (~174 LSAT, ~3.7 GPA, HYP)

Didn't Princeton stop its little experiment with deflation recently?

A few things here.
First of all, you're a freshman. It's way too early to start thinking about admissions. Your 3.7 GPA is solid right now and you should keep up the hard work. With that being said, your GPA could change substantially (positively or negatively) by the time you actually start sending applications. You haven't even gotten into the difficult portion of your major. Law school admissions typically don't adjust for slight grade deflation, just as they don't adjust for STEM majors and other similar considerations.
Second, how do you know you want to go to law school? Plans change, career goals shift, people change their mind. It can be tough to know if law school is the right choice even during the application process, much less during your first exposure to higher education. What draws you to the law? Do you know what lawyers do on a day to day basis? Have you spent any time working in a firm?
Third, why specifically the T6? While the T6 certainly opens doors and offers students a great "floor" of employment outcomes, what career path are you looking at that would specifically require a degree from a T6 over the rest of the T13? When people talk about "unicorn" outcomes, it typically is in the context of the unique opportunities Yale offers, not the T6 as a whole. Does money factor into this? What if you were offered sticker at CCN and a large scholarship at a "lower" T13? Why is UVA the outlier in your analysis?

Yes it's high enough. I had worse stats and got money at T6.

Respectfully, I’d advise you to just keep doing your best academically (in whatever program / classes spark your interest), get involved, have fun, etc. and to not return to TLS or remotely contemplate the LSAT/law school adminissions until junior year at the -absolute- earliest.

All of the above. Keep an open mind! You may very well discover a greater interest in a totally different field. When I was a college freshman I would've laughed at anyone who told me I'd go to law school one day.Sls17 wrote:Respectfully, I’d advise you to just keep doing your best academically (in whatever program / classes spark your interest), get involved, have fun, etc. and to not return to TLS or remotely contemplate the LSAT/law school adminissions until junior year at the -absolute- earliest.

I have personal friends and family that attended UVA Law. I'm fine with T14, but I personally want to go to Chicago on a full tuition (dream) scholarship. I just don't want to end up in a TTT with huge debt. If I'm going to law school, I want to make sure I get full to almost full tuition
