Columbia Junior/Senior Deferral Program

Not sure if this is big news or not, or if it will affect anything, but Columbia is starting a junior/senior 2 year deferral program for only its own students, with funding for the 2 gap years.

Interesting. Looks like it's going to be pretty damn hard to get, though. It's only for people deferring admission to pursue a start-up venture, and that's what the funding is for.

On the one hand, that must be a tiny group of people. On the other hand, it sounds like a pretty clever scheme. I think the goal is to encourage college grads to take a shot at startups (with the promise of CLS admission as a safety net) more than it is enhance the law school's admissions profile.
