Transfer Student
Hi all,
I'm currently a junior at the University of Michigan with a 3.94 LSDAS GPA and just got a 173 on the LSAT. However, before that I attended a top ten university for a year and a half. Because of two major surgeries and finding out my dad had another family, I fell into depression my freshmen year at duke and needed a change of scenery so I transferred to Michigan. I am wondering whether this transfer will be a red flag in my application.

I took out my name and changed a detail. I don't think it should be an issue now.

Re: Transfer Student
Is your LSDAS GPA including your time at Duke? If so, don't worry about any of it. If not, recalculate with your entire transcripts.
You don't have anything to explain to admissions. You experienced some really bad stuff, but you don't have to volunteer that information to admissions. As it stands (excepting my question above about your LSDAS GPA), you are competitive everywhere. You might not get in everywhere, but nothing you've provided will make an admission turn into a WL or rejection.
Put this to rest, and focus on strengthening the rest of your application. You'll have a good cycle.
