What would be some good softs/extracurriculars to add on an application?
Hello,
I'm a potential K-JD student. As it stands now, I'm in my sophomore year of undergrad with a 4.0 GPA (honors college student). I'm involved with a high level position in my schools Student Government, I have a leadership position on a debate team, I'm a weekly contributor to my schools newspaper and am an active member of a political club.
I'm looking to boost my law school resume in terms of softs. What types of things should I be doing that would make me a more competitive applicant?
My aspirations are to attend HYS or Chicago for law school.

If you have to ask at this point in your career, you aren't going to get a soft that will help. Strong softs are Rhodes and olympic/pro athlete.
The best thing you can do is get work experience between undergrad and law school. That will be the most beneficial thing you can do.

The best soft by far is two or more years of post-graduate work experience. Think about where you might like to work after graduation, and take steps to make that happen.

To the extent that softs matter, the ones that make a difference are things you've done on a serious level with a sustained level of commitment, for some time, which by definition doesn't really apply to anything you can just add on in college on top of everything else you're doing. FWIW, your softs will be fine for a K-JD.softmer wrote:I assume you mean that these things are unimportant?cavalier1138 wrote:Stop thinking about this.
